  • Lol, where is Scorland:

Your aqua card has a brand new design so it will be easy to tell the difference. Also, on the reverse of your new card it will now state that your card is issued by Progressive Credit Limited rather than Bank of Scorland Plc to reflect the change of licence aqua falls under.

I wonder if this means no new applicants from 1st March?

I haven't used mine for ages (and managed to lock myself out of their online system) but got a letter today saying I'll be getting a new card :rotfl:

You get a letter first then the card. I'm guessing the cards will come out towards the middle/end of Feb - since the effective date is 1st March

Well I got a letter saying I'll be sent a card, so I'm guessing I'll be sent a card :D

I think I've only ever used it twice anyway lol

Just noticed on the Nationwide Select page it now confirms what Callum was saying the other day.

Will certainly be trying for a 12 month extension on my card though, very annoying that I applied days before this Select card was launched.

Looking at the CC page, had I opened my Flext account later, I'd have been offered the chance to apply for the Select card at the end (without being a prime customer). Guess it's not possible to say I'd have got it for sure though, as the risk policies may have changed between the cards - given the cashback involved, lower representative rate and long 0% I'd guess it needs a higher credit score.

But they did give me a 2k limit, which is higher than I have on every other card and suggests I passed with some ease!

Also don't know if it's been mentioned or not but if you go through the 'amend credit limit' process and tick you agree to be credit checked it tells you what you are pre-approved for. Mine loaded in seconds, so I highly doubt I was actually credit checked at the time. So, if you don't like and don't take your pre-approved limit, you may avoid a check altogether. Took the 2.6k but if I don't get my 0% extended I won't ever use it!
  • Sorry to barge in on your thread....I previously had a vanquis aqua and capital one credit cards as had a crap credit rating and though it was a way of improving it....Anyway life happened, hubby lost his job, we had a house fire and I was unable to meet my payments and defaulted... this was in 2007/2008 following arrangements to pay it is now all up to date...Lesson learned....Since then I have not applied for anything and have checked my file and its showing as poor credit.... :( I have a mortgage and secured loan which has been kept up to date for 8 years.

I do not have any other credit, have a basic bank account with halifax and dont even have a mobile contract.

I have been with halifax bank for the last 4 years and have a bog standard easy cash account. I tried to upgrade a couple of times last year but was always refused. I have over £2,000 go in including wages and tax credits child benefit etc each month and unfortuantly most months about £2,000 out....

Whats the best way to improve my rating as now im on the straight and narrow and living within my means and budgeting I just want my credit rating to improve. Im just worried when I need to change mortagage that its going to affect me big style. Is there any other sub prime credit cards I could start with??

If you defaulted in 2007/08 those defaults should start dropping off your file in the next couple of years then you will have a clean file again. Also some lenders only look at the last 3 years rather than the full 6 years - obviously for a mortgage they would be more likely to look at the full 6 ys than for a credit card.

    Hi all

I know how we all love to share info so I thought I would post and say I have just received my Barclaycard Initial CC. £800 limit. Did the pre-application check on Monday and it said 80-90% chance of acceptance and card was on the mat 2 days later. Just so you know I have 1 CCJ 5 years and 1 month old for just over £3k (eek) which is being paid back slowly (but obv that doesn't show on my credit file) and 1 missed payment marker 9 months ago - again rectified immediately. Additional info: 2 other credit cards held with balances in the hundreds although rarely paid off in full.

    HTH anyone who is interested....

A quick question though - do Barclaycard automatically offer limit increases or do you have to apply.

    Thank you

They review credit limits from time to time and may write to you if they are going to give you an increase. They increased my limit after 4 months.

However as cardholder, you can request 1 increase per 6 months online or over phone.

My new Aqua card arrived today.

Is white with the image of a splash of water over it.

Far nicer than the previous design!
