JSA Mortgage Payments Confused!

Is the letter the same as TOBRUK's?
My PM's are full, but I'll get someone to send you my email address if you want to scan the letter.Gone ... or have I?0 -
It is very confusing but that is how they word the first paragragh! I really don't know why they word it like this because it's wrong.
Does the letter go like this:
Dear ,
About your JSA
Mortgage or loan reference number:
The JSA you are entitled to each week includes an amount towards the interest on your mortgage or home loan. We will take this money off your benefit and pay it straight to the lender. This matches
We may have to take money off other social security benefits that are paid with your JSA .... This does not exist.
... We will send an interest payment to your lender at the end of every four weeks after the first payment. This matches.
The table below shows the weekly amount we can allow for your mortgage or home loan. This does not exist.
.... Interest allowed for the mortgage or home loan..this says " How much we will take off your allowance"
from To Interest
26 June 2010 £43.16 This matches.
If you need any information about the interest you still owe on the mortgage or home loan, contact the lender. This does not exist.aphorism: is an original thought, spoken or written in a laconic and memorable form.0 -
It is very similar though, and it sounds to me that the £43.16 is the amount they will allow per week and they will be sending this to your lender (in arrears) every 4 weeks - £172.64. I don't think they are going to take it from your JSA, it's just how they word these letters but I know it's worrying.
Does it say on the letter:
If the money we take off your benefit is not enough to pay the interest on your mortgage or home loan, you must get in touch with the lender. You will have to arrange with the lender how you are going to pay them the rest of the money they need.0 -

Yes it does.aphorism: is an original thought, spoken or written in a laconic and memorable form.0 -
It sounds like they are allowing you £43.16 a week to help with your mortgage interest payments and you will still receive your £65 JSA.
Your lender will have been notified how much they are paying. You could contact your lender to see if they have received any payment although I wouldn't have thought that they would receive anything until 4 weeks from the date they have told you it is from.
In the meantime you should still pay your lender until they receive payment. If this payment covers your mortgage interest you can then contact your lender and ask them to cancel the direct debit from your account. Or if the payments don't cover your payments you can arrange to pay the difference.
When is your next JSA payment due? You will see if they have taken any money from this but I doubt it.0 -

Its due on the 7th July.
How can I claim the missing months...I know that they are reluctant to back date things but technically I am entitled to mortgage payments after 13 weeks.aphorism: is an original thought, spoken or written in a laconic and memorable form.0 -
The letter you have is very odd, it seems to be missing sections!
Backdating will depend on who is at fault - do you have proof that you submitted the paperwork at the earlier date?Gone ... or have I?0 -

I agree the letter is odd thus the confusion.
No I dont have proof.
The bank mortgage division is separate from the bank branch so I had to post it to the appropriate office. Unfortunately I thought I would save a few pennies by just sending it first class post..and they said they did not receive it. So thats why I sent a duplicate when I realised what was happening.
I think the lesson to be learned here is to spend the extra on recorded delivery.aphorism: is an original thought, spoken or written in a laconic and memorable form.0 -

I am not sure whether SMI would be classed as a new benefit award or a revision of a current award. In the case of a new award, the burden is on you to submit the correct information at the correct time. However they do tend to be much more lenient with award revisions. It would be worth asking the question, but I imagine the answer will be no.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Thankyou very much dmg24 and Tobruk for your help with this matter.
It is very much appreciated.aphorism: is an original thought, spoken or written in a laconic and memorable form.0
