JSA Mortgage Payments Confused!
Aphorism
I have been receiving JSA for about 7 months.
I recently applied for mortgage relief at the end of may 2010 having previously attempted to do so after the nominal 13 weeks on JSA. The latter however was not received and consequently not paid due to some mess with sending and receipt of forms. So explains why I had to resend the form to the bank at the end of May.
The bank duly sent the form back to the JSA office on the 9th June which was not actually actioned until 19th June.
This morning I received a letter saying "the money you are entitled to each week includes money towards your mortgage"...the money I actually receive is the £65/week JSA.
So can someone enlighten me to whats going on, I thought that the mortage relief was in addition to the £65/week JSA and not included??!!

Does the letter not have a higher amount on it? You will not receive the mortgage payment, that will go to your lender. Do you have any other household income?Gone ... or have I?0

No thats all it says, just telling me how much they are going to take off my allowance.
No other income.aphorism: is an original thought, spoken or written in a laconic and memorable form.0 -
Exactly what amounts are quoted in the letter? Does it give a calculation? I know the letter is not particularly clear, but it normally says more than the final amount.Gone ... or have I?0

Thankyou.
Nope thats it, it starts by saying:
"The money you are entitled to each week includes money towards the interest on your mortgage."
Then just below that it says:
"How much we will take off your allowance"
..and then its states how much they will take off.
No other sums mentioned.
I am wondering if the lateness of the application has anything to do with it and they probably assume I am already getting mortgage relief!!
When I first sent off the form at the 13 week period I just assumed that everything was taken care off until I checked my bank statement and noticed that there was no additional payments. Apparently the form was not received by the bank, so I sent in another form at the end of May which is the one which they have now.aphorism: is an original thought, spoken or written in a laconic and memorable form.0 -

The amount quoted is £43.16
Does it say somewhere on the letter something like; Interest allowed for the mortgage £43.16?
When you received an application form they told you to fill one part and then send it to your lender (to fill in the rest) who then sends it back to them. Any money that is allowed for mortgage interest is paid directly to your lender every 4 weeks.0 -
Does that sound like the correct amount for your mortgage interest (how much is your mortgage)? What it means is that, assuming you have no other income or capital, your total entitlement is JSA + £43.16.Gone ... or have I?0

Thats the confusing bit because it states that the money I am entitled to includes money towards the interest ...and then it says we will take money from your JSA to pay straight your lender. If I could send you a scan of the document perhaps that may help.aphorism: is an original thought, spoken or written in a laconic and memorable form.0 -
It is very confusing but that is how they word the first paragragh! I really don't know why they word it like this because it's wrong.
Does the letter go like this:
Dear ,
About your JSA
Mortgage or loan reference number:
The JSA you are entitled to each week includes an amount towards the interest on your mortgage or home loan. We will take this money off your benefit and pay it straight to the lender.
We may have to take money off other social security benefits that are paid with your JSA ....
... We will send an interest payment to your lender at the end of every four weeks after the first payment.
The table below shows the weekly amount we can allow for your mortgage or home loan.
.... Interest allowed for the mortgage or home loan
from To Interest
26 June 2010 £43.16
If you need any information about the interest you still owe on the mortgage or home loan, contact the lender.0
