ADSL Nation sell good ADSL microfilters. Not the cheapest around but they are very good and IMO their level or service is superb.

I still have a very well recommended ADSL Nation microfilter bought a few years ago. But it actually made things worse! When I tried it recently it again did increase the speed slighty but the connection also kept dropping with its use, so I went back to a cheaper BT one. Slower but at least no cut out of connection.

    Just bumping this thread!
I have a master socket in the lounge which is just used by my router (with microfilter). However I had an additional socket put in by Sky when I had satellite installed - near the window. I no longer have Sky connected to the line - I recently put the phone there instead.
So by the sounds of this I should have a microfilter there too?
Could explain the recent intermittent disconnections - which I thought was down to a faulty router. Dohh....

Yes Pineapple you need to filter each used telephone point, shirley the Sky box had a filter when you used to use it?
That gum you like is coming back in style.

I'm pretty sure not. Would the socket have an inbuilt filter?

I doubt it, you can get ADSL faceplates to replace the standard BT offering. Sky normally plug in and extension, that plug should be after the microfilter.

Hi, I've just discovered this thread and I'm hoping for a bit of advice. I got my talktalk broadband up and running last week having only used dialup before. I'm chuffed to bits with the speed and downloads but I now have a problem with the phoneline.........it crackles and hisses. Now, I've got the PC in the dining room and the only phone socket is in the hall, so I have the phone on my desk and the modem plugged into a microfilter, then that into an extension, extension goes under the floor thru the cellar, back up in the hall and plugs into a doubler socket so I can use the hall phone too. Now I have another microfilter but if I plug that in the hall I get "no dial-tone" from the broadband. The modem lead isn't long enough to run under the floor so I'm guessing I need to buy a longer one so it can plug directly into a microfilter in the hall, but I need the proper lead with the right plugs either end. Not being very techy I'm stumped, would this solve the problem and can anyone suggest where I could buy one and what I would ask for please?:o

I am with TT too and had hissy lines. Got conned into accepting a Qube engineer out only for him to stick a new microfilter on the test plate (1st access point into house) and got charged £50 for it!!

Removed hiss temporarily on lines but now returning. Can't be bothered to chase TT as they have already refused to refund. Any advice really appreciated too! :T

    HI All,

If any TalkTalk Customers are experiencing issues with connection we can investigate this on the TalkTalk Members Forum. We can also arrange replacement filters as part of diagnostic testing should this be necessary.
