  • Personally I'm pretty !!!!! with over the phone comunication. I would probably drop an email saying that I had thought things over and wished to apologise but that as I was out of the office I would come and do so in person at x time. But most people are probably better over the phone.

I think i would probably give them a ring. I think apologies become harder if more time is allowed to pass. I'm sorry you've been upset by this but these things tend to eat away at you don't they.

We don't have much conversational rapport, so I'll drop him an email tomorrow. I would normally prefer to do it over the phone, but could be the most stilted conversation ever, so at least I can spend time composing the message. Had a good day at work today so feeling much better about myself professionally. Thanks again everyone for your kind messages - when I get down or upset about something I tend to fixate on really negative thoughts and it can be hard to move on from them.

pammy it does sound like a difficult work situation to raise problems, you are very strong to deal with it. I have cried when angered or upset by something at work, the worst time was on my first day of a new job in front of my new boss! The health declaration form I'd filled in had raised some queries and on my first day my boss had to ask me some really delicate questions about things I would never want anyone to know about me  - I'm still annoyed with the HR department about that, even though I don't work there anymore :rotfl:. It was really awkward for both of us when all they needed to say to my manager was that I was fit for work, or interview me themselves. Anyway the tears on my first day must have confirmed to the boss that I was a total fruitcake! Luckily, no more spilled by me in that workplace until I left.

On the remortgaging front, yes I agree ssss that it is a massive get out fee, but I really do think the sums add up. Looked at best buy tables today, nothing compares at the moment to the FD deal for us, plus the only fees on their side will be £99, most on that table are around £500 or more. We will have saved £1800 off our current mortgage repayment amount in 9-10 months of switching, and still have 4 years and 2 months to enjoy a good mortgage rate. OH is wavering a bit, but we have a bit of time to consider.

DD had first day at Badgers yesterday and enjoyed :D although was exhausted afterwards.

Got to £10 payout on !psos yesterday :j and a £2.70 refund from tfl for late trains. Also found 8p and a mcd's coffee bean, only 1 more needed for free coffee I can't drink due to caffeine ban :rotfl:.

Have friends present to make now, and 3 things to declutter before bed! Bought from a charity shop a biscuit tin jam packed full of buttons for £3.99 and a family board game for £1.50 :o naughty I know, but will take it out of rapidly depleting pocket money.

Managed to find a few things to declutter, and this morning after shower binned a few things from bathroom cabinet and a bikini I haven't worn for years from the wardrobe has been put in the charity bag :D.

Attempt at present was pants :(, was a silk wrapped beaded necklace but was really hard and looks pants so will have to go buy something now instead. At least I tried.

OH giving me lift to work :j, saves me 1 hour travelling (only 15 mins in the car, add an hour by public transport ). DD's first swimming lesson of the term this afternoon, so plan to have a schwim too, my first exercise session of the week. Dinner is defrosting from freezer so no panic there, but MUST remember to make a bread otherwise we won't have lunch tomorrow! Tonight will put clean laundry away and do my 1/2 hour decluttering.

Had swim - did 18 lengths in 25 mins which is ok considering how long it has been since I last went. That is my first proper exercise session of the week :j. Bread done, but cooling and I'm too tired to make sarnies now so will throw a tea towel over it and deal with in the morning.

Did my decluttering session - ended up being more like 45 mins. Emptied bathroom cabinet completely, cleaned it, put like with like and got rid of empty packaging, stuff I've never liked, bits of tut - now looks much better and over 25 things decluttered :D. This is an area I had tackled about 3 months ago, I seriously think it takes more than one go to properly declutter. The first time felt difficult, but this was a lot easier. I read my declutter book, the page about bathrooms, just before I started it and that focused the mind ;).

I also put my swim bag in the washing machine as it was a bit mank, once dry tomorrow I will sort out the previous contents (currently in a carrier bag) and restock it, likely to be more chucked out from there.

Found 12p today! And got given free sachet of decaf coffee :D.

Bought nuts reduced to £1.50 for 300g in the Co-op today - got two packs and have divided them into 35g portions to take into work for snacks. Works out about 18p per portion, not bad!

Bought goggles from swimming pool at £9, my old ones have gone walkies, but they were leaking something chronic, having had them for 2 years. Put on house account as exercise related cost. Schwim was free.

Clean laundry will have to wait until tomorrow to be tidied away :o

I wish that i had half your energy you are going great guns. I am decluttering this week-end and the bathroom seems to be as good as anywhere else to start.

Also this week-end I am doing a complete deep clean because I am getting a cleaner from the beginning of February. What a treat that will be, mind you they can't start without me doing a good fettle out I would be too ashamed.

What's happening in the loft, are you in there?
  • mw
sounds like youre doing great!! :) well done on the decluttering , our place could do with another go over I think..although slowly but surely Im getting there and throwing things out as I go along which is a better way I think than attempting a huge day-long blitz!!

well done on the exercise! I must confess I have been pants at the challenge the last week - must get back on it today!! not great that this early on it has fallen by the wayside! :o

I wondered about the loft too is it livable-in?

The bathroom is definitely a good place to start, less emotional attachment to that sort of stuff, well for me anyway! Good luck with your declutter too toots. And a cleaner, wow, that will be a real luxury indeed! Don't mention it to OH, he keeps suggesting we get one but we just need to get things straight and then will be easier to keep on top of. Fettle out - not heard that expression before, what does it mean?

Glad to hear you're getting there with the decluttering too tyo, what techniques do you use to keep on top of it? I need at least another day's blitz, and then have some projects to set myself, including ebaying, amazoning, putting photos in an album, sorting out proper memory box, putting masters notes in a folder... at least a few more weekends there to think about!

I won't be exercising tonight :o, did mean to but DD wouldn't eat the gorgeous duck fried rice gave her, and it was too nice to chuck away - so I ate it! I don't like to exercise on a full stomach. Need to make OH some dinner now though - doing HM daal which is cheap, tasty and healthy. Am out tomorrow evening, so means I need to exercise Sat AND Sun to reach target, lordy! Unless I get up early and do it tomorrow , on second thoughts will just leave it to the weekend! Understandable you haven't been reaching target given how you've been feeling - are you starting to feel better?

The loft still has some snagging to go - about 14 jobs, some big some small. Awaiting schedule on that. OH had some leave to use up before end of Feb, so he has a week off at beginning of Feb where he will be painting it all. He has already done a lot of prep - primed all wood including new staircase, filled all holes and sanded down plaster, and done a 'mist coat' on about half of it. Once decorating done we will have to carpet and furnish it. We won't be moving up as it won't take a king size bed and I couldn't do without it! We were thinking of renting it out for a year, but having shared the house with builders for ages I think we want our space back in the evenings, plus we haven't found anyone suitable who would slot in with our family home. We will use it as a guest room for friends and family - first booking taken for early March so have deadline to finish it by! The second room will be a craft room and extra storage. Eventually DD will have the ensuite room as a teenage room, will be a great space for her to hang out with her friends and have sleepovers. She is too young for it at the moment. Will post photos when it is all done - can't WAIT, will be a major weight off my mind.

Popped into Mr S on way home, got reduced lamb loin chops 4 for £4 from fresh counter which have gone in freezer and will be nice meal for us. They are doing chicken legs and drumsticks £1.50 for 600g, I bought 2 and will make a big English style chicken curry in the slow cooker - should be about £4.50 total cost for enough for 8-10 people. Will freeze the rest, am realising how much the batch cooking is making an impact on our shopping bill. Total added to food shop: £8, taking us to £20 for the week. Also bought 3 pairs of navy tights for £4 which will go with dress I bought last Sat, am going out for drinks tomorrow after work so new tights and a new frock will make me feel fab :D. After a week of working in scruffs in the museum store I need to feel a bit more girly!

  • Have just found £25 of John Lewis vouchers whilst decluttering - were in a toiletries set I bought (new and unused) second hand somewhere  :j :j :D. Clearly someone didn't check it before they passed it on.

Fiorelli have 70% sale on, just ordered gorgeous red leather matinee wallet as part of sister's 40th bday present - £11 down from £35, and a little coin purse for friends birthday for £4, free delivery too.

    Time for sleep now however!

Bless me MFWs, for I have spent.
