Hello,
really hope that you get your shopping done without too much hassle - random food purchases or not ! My DD just about better now whereas as I feel decidedly under the weather ... that might be the after effects of my first alcoholic drink in ages though

Well, we managed to pull together a sane Christmas meal - roast duck with lots of veg sides, stuffing, pigs in blankets and roast spuds. OH made it and it was delicious! OH had a bottle of real champagne from work so we had a few glasses of that and the day floated away! Had luxury Xmas pudding from Asda I bought on offer a few months ago.
We have lots of veg left over we might try and do a bubble and squeak with later. We spent £120 on food, but as we hadn't been to the shops for about 3 weeks was not bad. We stocked up on some deals - including a whole salmon for £5/kg, which OH has filleted and made fish stock from the bones, and the decent de cecco pasta for £1 a pack.
DD getting slightly better but still v tired. She enjoyed her presents, particularly the lego toyland set I managed to get for £20 from John Lewis (thank you grabbit board!). It has 900 pieces :eek:, we have only put a bit together! It was quite low key present wise, but OH and I wanted to make sure we got to the end of the year without going into debt, with the loft that meant we had little to spare. Saying that, OH got his phone the other day, and I just got one for me too, a Samsung Galaxy Europa (£81), and have signed up for £10/month Mr T mobile deal too. So that is more than enough for me!
Went to sister's yesterday, they did a really nice roast with ham and turkey, and DD got to play with her cousins all day, it was lovely seeing them all. Back today, had party this evening which has been cancelled (secretly relieved as means I can have an early night tonight!).
Feeling v tired, want to get my oomph back so can get on top of the house and do some quality things with DD.Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Avoiding that sinking post Xmas feeling - there is so much to do around the house I feel like I can't ignore it any more.
Yesterday I managed to declutter 2 massive boxes of paperwork down to 1/2 a box. Think bye bye A level essays, old job descriptions, and most of my university paperwork. Couldn't quite bear to get rid of the uni essays, but may take another pop at it. Literally hundreds of pieces of paper gone, our recycling bin can't take much more!
I have photos from when was with ex (DD's dad), I'd like to sort those out but were quite hard to look at - will set that as a challenge for an evening or two. Any tips for dealing with photos?
We had some family time working with DD on the lego too, which was lovely for us to all sit around and do something together. Only have the toy shop itself left to build now :eek:!
I also have done some exercise :j! 35 mins this morning of bodylicious - which is RUBBISH, way too easy and barely any dance in it. I got it for £1 from a fete, and am giving it straight to charity. But at least I did it, and really really want to do the 3 x week exercise. Thought if I left it to new year it would be way too much of a shock, must have been at least a month since I'd done any!
New phone seems good, am still bemused by it, but am going to set up online calendar and new email address, which will be for friends only. I get so much junk mail, mainly from entering comps. Hopefully the new email will sort this, and I will only get the ones I need sent to my mobile. Will keep old one for comps only - hoping this means a decluttered email too.
OH has made a start on the decoration - has primed 3 of the window surrounds.
Meeting BIL and SIL in town today, they are coming to see the new extension, and we have a house party with family friends in the evening. Trying to keep DD rested this morning so she will be ok for the party (it is at her old childminder's house who is like a mother to me). Did mean DD tidied her room this morning as we said she couldn't come if it wasn't tidied!
To do:
* [STRIKE]hoover downstairs[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]hoover and [/STRIKE]dust DD's room hoovered - hoover broke so had to get other hoover! Dusting will take forever, will do another day
* [STRIKE]change bedding x 2[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]shower and do hair[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]declutter handbag (don't want to take it to town the way it is now!)[/STRIKE] yes, although have carrier bag in drawer I need to sort
* [STRIKE]town this afternoon[/STRIKE] An hour in the British Museum, enough to enjoy!
* [STRIKE]party this evening[/STRIKE] enjoyed greatly, despite OH having swollen glands and DD being tired!
Tomorrow:
* online calendar (means I don't need to buy one this year :money:!)
* [STRIKE]inform everyone new email[/STRIKE]
* online address book
* [STRIKE]declutter 1 x box[/STRIKE] took the easy route of getting rid of RISI books!
* [STRIKE]laundry x 2[/STRIKE] woollens be gone!Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Well done on decluttering all that paperwork - seems to take forever doesn't it. I have my uni notes but as a recent graduate unsure what to do with them esp as i would use the internet or books for reference rather than my notes. Makes me wonder why i wrote it all down in the first place!
Enjoy your party, this lull between Christmas and new year is a bit depressing isn't it so it's good to have something to look forward to.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Hi MW it sounds like you are having a good holiday, I hope that your daughter feels more lively soon, apart from her feeling a bit ill school is very tiring she probably is really in need of a rest. The Lego Town sounds great.
I have been to John Lewis Oxford Street this morning there are some nice kids craft things half price, plus some pretty Cath Kidston needlebooks, pin cushions etc. But, the wool doesn't have good reductions YET...........
They have some really beautiful stuff but it is only about 10-15% off I thought that I would drift back in a couple of weeks and see what is left. Their own bamboo needleroll is half price, £7.50 for six pairs of needles which is good value if you need any knitting needles.
I bought some beautiful fabric really cheap on Newark market and I have cut out a mohair coat this morning, happy days.0 -
I can understand why your DD is so out of it. The bug i currently have has knocked me for 6 for a good few days now. I can't wait to shift it. Your christmas sounds quite relaxed.
Good work on the decluttering. I got rid of a load when i had DS1. We had boxes of old uni notes behind the sofa in the living room which i did not touch in the 2 years we had lived here so i binned the lot. It can be quite cathartic.
Can the photos be scanned in?0 -
well done on the exercise mw!! I havent forgotten about our challenge :rotfl:
hope dd is feeling better soon and well done on the decluttering too! I am also on that challenge!!
I hear ya on the anticlimax between xmas and new year but just think how great a time new year is to make more challenges! :rotfl:0
