QB - house blessings are a fly lady thing - being an unnaturally tidy (or naturally messy) person, house blessings is a way of thinking about cleaning - rather than a duty, you are blessing your house. 15 minutes max per room. A great way of getting on top of things, for a perfectionist like me, learning that anything you do is blessing your home, and family, has got me over doing nothing (because nothing is good enough).

tyo - taken your advice too literally; I have had way too many glasses of wine... :o. I feel quite exhausted sometimes, but hope hard work now whilst have health and motivation makes life easier in the long run iyswim

ps. I am a bit merry, so apologies if my answers are rambling! Met more people locally today, I really enjoyed going into spaces, home and artists studios that I wouldn't normally. Is great to explore. Had to buy lunch, some drinks, and ended up getting a round (the mfw worst nightmare :rotfl:). Total spent: £26 , means I have spent £50 of my £150 personal budget in one Sep weekend. Need to cut back so can make £100 last 3 weeks.

  • :rotfl: on the wine mw - hope your head is okay this morning!!
I agree getting things done whilst healthy and active and able to is a good idea- but watch that perfectionist streak! (coming from another "it has to be perfect or there is no point doing it at all!" - I am learning to let this go ;) )
I love the idea of house blessings- sounds great!!
ooo...your day sounds lovley, love doing things like that and things I wouldnt normally do! I have no doubt you can stretch the spends budget for the next few weeks!
    have a good sunday

  • haven't got out of bed yet tyo, think three days of drinking in a week is way, way too much for my 30 year old body :rotfl:! Am on the water today, and off booze for a while. Was a great day though ;)

Have entered yet more comps :o and done some surveys. £3 redeemed, and more points added on another account. I'm not doing much money making at the minute, mainly because I am trying to focus on sorting things out ready for the loft work. Trying not to spread myself too thinly (see, I do listen tyo!)

Going to get up, have breakfast and shower, and then start on 15 minute bursts of activity. Didn't do shred yesterday (although was on feet for about 3 hours visiting different studios), so want to fit it in today. DD home later this afternoon :j

  • First two 15 minutes bursts - Dining table decluttered! Living room and dining room tidied. Paperwork shredded. MIL spoken to. Dishwasher filled and on. Two items reposted on Freecycle. Found I am on fixed tariff now anyway for energy supplier.

  • Second two lots of 15 minute bursts - living room, dining room and kitchen hoovered. Unpacked case. Put wash load on. Put daughters clean clothes from case away. Am going to have a sit down now and read my new RISI book for half hour - how to be an amazing mum when you haven't got the time :rotfl:

  • Hello MW - I wish you were available to come and 'bless' my house. I've been painting the outside conservatory for the last week, and I find it terribly difficult to get housework AND DIY done at the same time, so the place looks as if a bomb's hit it!!

  • No chance of me blessing any one else's home I'm afraid, struggle to cope with my own! Totally know what you mean - if I need to focus on money making, or decluttering, means keeping on top of everything else is almost impossible. Hence why I end up with such crazy lists and I post them here - just to keep me motivated!

Went through that book pile and reduced it to 8 for amazon, 20 for charity. Took them in in my trolley (all hardbacks, so very heavy, will count as my shred today, I am just too exhausted for any jumping around!).

Also sorted out DD for school- bought her 14 x new pants and socks for school, as well as a two pack of leggings, £16 spent in peacocks. She grows taller rather than out, so the leggings are great as it means any dresses getting short for her can be worn as tunics. She also found some gorgeous next leopard print black skinny jeans for £3.25 in the charity shop, she put £2 towards them. Have got her to try on new uniform, got from sainsburys in her absence in the end. £50 ! but £18 to take back. Has cycling shorts for school, two skirts, two dresses, 6 pairs of blue tops... have learnt get enough that we're not panicking to get washing done after a busy day at work! All ready on her chair for tomorrow now.

Second load of laundry done, and OH has been tackling the laundry pile too. Chicken drumsticks in the oven for tea, with bulgar wheat and veg. Just need to sort out the 30 invoices *groans inwardly at thought*

  • Hello,

I have not posted on your diary before, but have enjoyed reading them and wanted to say hello. It is nice to meet another MFW who is tempted by wine and similar when out - my downfall!

I have heard others mention RISI books - what are these?

    All the best,

    Squirrel:)
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D
  • Invoices done, whoever invented 'find and replace' on word is a genius and needs a knighthood! Weren't quite as bad as I was expecting, although haven't done any accompanying letters yet. DD keeps getting out of bed, think settling down to the term time routine may take some time!

Thanks for posting SSS, glad my antics are of interest to others. Do you have a diary yourself, and how is your MFW journey going? Yes :o I am very partial to a glass of wine and a drink, and living in London the price of a few drinks can be very !. I have had a *ahem* little too much drinking this week, but with a third of my monthly socialising budget gone now, I think I'll have to reign it in a bit! Love to socialise though, and find it hard to drink non-alcoholic stuff in a pub! What do other MFW do to get over this quandary?

RISI is read it swap it - a free online book swapping site. You just register what you have, and then find books you'd like to read and ask others if they would swap with you. You only pay postage, so can be a very cheap way of reading things you really want to, at little cost. Plus is recycling, which is good in my books! (groans at unintended bad pun).
