Thanks for the feedback on acupuncture tyo, will definitely bear it in mind. Am feeling better, although popped some pills just before my talk today as was worried I *might* get a migraine... living in fear not good
.
CathT - Definitely bugs starting, although think there will be a few more in a week or two once the schools are properly back! I get so hungry with low blood sugar I can't even talk properly - the worst thing is it will just hit me out of nowhere, so don't even have time to explain! Usually recognise beforehand, but still get a few surprises. Some of friends think I have diabetes - I don't, but my dips can be quite drastic!
Life definitely too busy at times - but the good news is had my talk today :j, and it went well, :j:j, and had lots of friends turn up too :j:j:j. So a very good day indeed! Went to pub for a few drinks after, total spent £6.35, come home late but happy
:D. Haven't got to get up early tomorrow, and when I do get up, have free clothes to go and pick
:D:D. Going to stop now before I sound smug and catch up with some diaries!!

oooh enjoy the clothes pick up! That will perk you up after a late night!
I run at very low blood sugar and am sure it is bad for me! Must have an overactive pancreas! Had blood sugar tested routinely when preg, i had morning appt, had breakfast, an apple while i waited and it was only 3.8 (normal range 4-7). Whenever i have tested it since it has only been 4.something!

*considers how to find out more about low blood sugar* If I could manage that, would mean less migraines, better health, and more healthy time available to me... and more time to be an MFW!
Saw the SOA - honestly will do mine later, once picked my winnings :j! DD coming with me, as she has day off for Eid. She loves clothes anyway, and will give her something to talk about at school on Monday!Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

horrible about the migranes, and yes I can relate to the fear of "what if?" ..hope you get things sorted soon!0 -
Hi tyo - yes, I had sooo much fun. Spent £1,100 and have a credit note for another £400. Got four things - a belt, a dress, a jumper dress, a skirt and a leather jacket - they are all very me, and am really going to enjoy wearing them! Got a glimpse of how the other half live - shoppers greeted by name, ordering multiple things from the main range (£800+) to be sent to their home, called when the new seasons range comes in *sigh*. I suppose I have been greeted by name in local charity shops before :rotfl:. Took DD, she had a fabulous time talking fashion with all the staff, they dressed her up in clothes, and gave her a £70 scarf to take home. I don't even own a £70 scarf!!!
Unfortunately did have another migraine on the way back - had large breakfast and took snack, but forgot about it in excitement of trying everything on, so by time left was in low blood sugar mood. In middle of Notting Hill, didn't want to spend a fortune, and DD was being funny about local pizza places (£3 a slice! ). Managed to get a calzone from a local place for myself (£2.35), and took DD to McD's much to her delight! One happy meal and cup of tea later, I'd eaten my calzone on the sly, and I had one DD saying I was the best mum in the world *sigh*. I wish she didn't love those trashy places, but she does. Almost keeled over on tube on way home though, despite taking some pain killers. Had lie down when got in, and then it passed.
Slept really, really badly last night - have woken up v early with sore throat and sense of dread. Have friends coming over from South Coast for lunch today, I just feel like crying. Trying to channel energy into positive outcomes, have sorted wardrobe and put out loads of old tights, socks and pants for recycling, and another bag of more decent stuff for the charity shop. Everything gone back in folded or hung. Total gone: about 25 things, and result is a wardrobe I do not dread opening. Have had breakfast - OH doing shopping from list we wrote last night, and I need to cheer up, have shower, and start cleaning the house! Have already snapped at DD as she is also exhausted, is refusing to tidy her room and now wants to paint a plate!! *counts to 10*

If you are in london I know there are some training schools around there, that might be a way of getting it cheaper! the needles are tiny , you cant feel them , but that might not help!
I guess I was very lucky, I knew someone who had recently trained in acupuncture and wanted to keep practising while she built up regular clients and she only charged me for the price of the needles, so just a few pounds a time, think I did 10-12 sessions. So there will probably be other newly trained people around the country too, but finding them might be tricky.
Try eating little and often to keep balanced blood sugar levels, it is tough as our society seems geared round three big meals, but having big meals can result in a bigger drop of blood sugar after.
Hope you got what you needed to done for your friends coming and had a good time, and glad you enjoyed your free shopping spree!

hi mw
shopping spree sounds fab!! glad DD enjoyed it too- sounds like taking her was a good plan to nab a freebie too! (£70 scarf?? wow!) loved your description of how the other half live... I gotta say shopping is not my thing and only done when absolutely necessary , so the idea of someone else doing it for me and not having to make the effort its quite nice!...ah..one day when Im rich!
sorry about the migranes, that must be horrible ... yeah Im not sure re: finding cheap(er) accupuncture , you could google the british accupuncture council (warning it has a pic of accupuncture needles on the first webpage!) and see if there are any links to practices or training institutes near you - looking at the page university of westminster and middlesex uni run accredited courses might be worth a look into about whether they have students nearing the end of the course that need to build up thier hours for registration etc..
hope you feel better soon tho!0 -
Saver-j - got the house in better order for friends coming over - hoovered and tidied up, and made a nice veggie mezze lunch and a homemade victoria sponge for afternoon tea. We now have loads of leftovers to keep us going for lunches for a few days! OH spent £50, which we plan to stretch for 2 weeks as we're away this weekend. Last week we only spent £25, so doing ok for groceries. Plus the house is clean, and I didn't feel ashamed opening my wardrobe to show my new items! Was lovely to see them, and entertain at home/pop to the park.
Regarding blood sugar, am starting to do some research and have just read this article http://women.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/women/body_and_soul/article3503845.ece which suggests that migraines may be due to being dehydrated rather than low blood sugar. As a result, my plan is to always have a bottle of water, and drink 2L of water a day. I eat all the sorts of foods they say - I have sugar free muesli with yoghurt for breakfast, lunch is normally something like pittas and hummus or homemade leftovers, and dinner is normally homemade and nutritious. I think I do need to carry some snacks with me at all times though - so my next plan is to put together 5 x emergency snack packs, and put one in my work bag each day.
Another article I've just read is herehttp://www.netdoctor.co.uk/diseases/facts/bloodsugarlow.htm which is a bit too medical for my liking and talks about tumours . The main factor in affecting blood sugar seems like alcohol , so I need to cut back on this. Final part of plan is to reduce alcohol consumption.... should probably be more specific than this, any suggestions welcome!
I've also requested a swap for a book on low blood sugar on RISI, I hope to get it!
tyo - Thanks so much for your suggestions. I went on the website, and found a link to the London College of Traditional Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine who run a clinic in Finchley. I've put in a request for an appointment.
Relaxing Sunday start - emptied dishwasher from yesterday, had breakfast, put a wash load on, and been on here... I will see how much more I do from the list, really need to recharge my batteries. DD playing beautifully at home (she was a total mare yesterday), so might make the most of it by putting my feet up.Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Hi MW I too have migraines which had no obvious trigger but I read about the dehydrated theory and I knew that was me. I am never thirsty and often go all day without drinking, or rather I used to. Now I am careful and drink a small drink every hour, often water, but also tea and coffee. Every time anyone makes a drink at work I have one even though I usually don't drink it all. In the evenings I set out two glasses of water and am careful to drink them both before bed. Now the only time I get a migraine is if I don't follow this, it has transformed my life. I hope this works for you, migraines are so debilitating.0

Hi MW,
Glad the shopping trip went well.
I will look at the links you posted when have more time. I do think dehydration is a big factor too, i tend to be worse on a late shift when i have missed breaks and gone hours without a drink. I hope you find something that works for you.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0
