Hello,
I have a very interesting story for 2010, it all started when I went to the bank for an student overdraft of £500 and I ended up paying after a whole year £900 in charges to Lloyds TSB, I family isn't rich and I was giving a full student loan which gave me about £439 a month and I can remember paying a charge of £190 a time for going over drawn. I also had a basic bank account with RBS and I went overdrawn in that account aswell -£30 for just going overdrawn and now my account is £320 overdrawn.
so you just spent everything with no thought of budgeting
I don't know how the government lets this happen to students I really want to kill the MP's, if I ever see one in the street he'll be getting my mouth to answer to lol.
let what happen?gave you money and free will to exercise restraint?
After reading about getting the charges back on this site I put a claim in. I wrote to the bank blah blah blah, they said it was hold and I wasn't getting it back. So I took to the financial ombudsman and it took months and months to get a decision back from them and all they said that since the bank offered me to reduce my overdraft by £10 a month they have done their job to help me with hardship. That wasn't the answer I wanted to hear, I wanted to hear that they will refund me all of the charges. I'm still paying it back to this day but i totally disagree of paying it but I don't have a choice.
you didnt disagree with the spending though?
Since I had a reply from the ombudsman I don't know what step i should take now because i really want the money back so i can go on a nice holiday and relex before my 2nd year of university starts. That's all :mad::mad:
accept you !!!!!! your money away like the stereotypical student.now its time to pay the piper
Thank you very much for listening to my story, and I can't wait to hear the replies xx

I can see why people have a certain view about students....
I haven't got any money, I owe a load of money, but I'm going on holiday.

It's true i did spend the money on crap and i totally hate it, i just want it to go away. Why do we pay wages into a bank account? The bank uses our money to pay people mortages, loans etc and give us a stupid interest rate when they spend our money but when we use their money we get charged extremely, ITS TOTALLY WRONG! That's the point0

National Debtline should be your first port of call. Not an appointment with Thomas Cook. Why do we pay wages into a bank account? The bank uses our money to pay people mortages, loans etc and give us a stupid interest rate when they spend our money but when we use their money we get charged extremely, ITS TOTALLY WRONG! That's the point
But you don't get charged if you don't go overdrawn. I think you need to look at budgeting instead of blaming everyone else. You may feel it is wrong, but no-one is forcing you to have a bank account.Best Regards
