Advice on Over draft charges

I am contemplating writing to my bank and asking them to refund all of the charges they made when i went over my over draft limit...which i think, would work out to be a lot! The thing is, i know that there is a small risk of my bank closing my account - which would be a pain in the backside...But are there some banks that are more willing to refund your money then others? Are there some high street banks who play hard ball - harder then others? I'm a bit of a scaredy cat, and would love some advice! Thank you

Im thinking about it too, but as I am in my overdraft I dont want to risk them closing my account.
Is there anyone who's bank has asked them to leave?

  • The Alliance and Leicester close your account if you reclaim your charges. I just got over £900 back in charges and they want to "discuss my position". Ah ha ha ha. Head on over to the website https://www.consumeractiongroup.com because they help you every step of the way!

I opened a parachute account before I started this, so they have no way to get back at me! It's definitely worth doing, my mum is currently claiming back over £4000 in charges from the Bank of Scotland.
"Think for yourselves and allow others the privilege to do so too." Voltaire.
  • I claimed back from A&L but added to the Consumer Action Group that I would report them to Banking Code Standards Board if they closed my account. They refunded and didn't close my account or ask to "discuss my position" (as they have done with others)

They can close your account legally for this but if they do they are breaking the banking code.
If you don't like what I say slap me around with a large trout and PM me to tell me why.

If you do like it please hit the thanks button.
  • You're best off opening a parachute account just in case anyway - I didn't need mine in the end.

natwest do one that's fairly easy to get even if you have a poor credit rating.
