Hammyman, -don't get all ' kiat ', that's why the thread's stated purpose is to ~discuss~ :beer::beer:
30 or so elements in my post, I'm hoping people have a view on them, and say what ? / why ?.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I try to be an even-handed poster and accept that you at times may not agree with these opinions or how I choose to express them, this is not my problem. bumpo for ' Hammyman ' I'm hoping people have a view on them, and say what ? / why ?
I'm looking for feedback M8, genuinely, it's not a pop at you, ere~av~a~beer~M8
- I'm looking to discover which of the bit's of opinion frequently asked for and frequently given on this forum are generally agreed by the majority as fact. It's a moving goalpost / standards change / new innovations come in / old myths are quantified / but we should as a group be able to agree which are good as opposed to bad recommendations.
- at the end of the day spending a grand is an emotional as well as financial experience, we should be able to help new purchasers find what is commonly accepted by the group as:
- - what's good
- - what's bad
- - what's not yet decided / agreedDisclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Ok, explain why its two years out of date, bring your expertise to the group for some critical analysis. There is nothing wrong with your opinion providing you qualify it.
I was happy to put my opinions up, and prepared for people to tell me I was wrong and why I was wrong, because its to the benefit of the group in general, and the perpetual new posters in particular who constantly ask the question " which should I get "
My effort was and continues to be a consensus thing, having a snipe / punch / spit / at someone and running away is the trait of a school yard bully, were you a school yard bully Hammyman, go on I dare ya ! tell us all if you were a school yard bully.
Tell me why I was wrong and why I'm two years out of date please.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. In brief, both technologies have advantages and disadvantages.
Plasma- More natural picture quality.
- Unlimited viewing angle.
- Still prone to burn in and image retension, to a lesser extent than older technology.
- More expensive to run.
- Great picture quality, but still second to plasma.
- Viewing angle can be an issue, to a lesser extent than old technology.
- Motion blur all but eliminated on most modern units.
- Cheaper to run.
Do not let the saleperson from PC World tell you it supports both formats natively, this is technically impossible. In the same way a guy from Curry's told me Sony had released the DLP Plasma, a mix of two totally different technologies... laughed, I nearly cried.
If picture quality is a prerequisite, viewing in a specialised shop is essential - rather than the typical blinding flourescent lighting scenario.
For the record, I'm an LCD owner - soon to be moving to the dark side or at least... better blacks
I watch a lot of dark films, so plasma is the right choice although I understand I'll have to treat it differently to my current LCD which served me admirably for the last 4½ years.
Happy hunting
ps, no motion blur either0
