skypie, did I advise you looked at Dermactron products for your dog? Mine have allergies (MUCH worse in the summer) and they are under control by using this stuff - after years of steroids, anti biotics, vets shampoos and blood tests. I recently started using the ear drops and the dogs thank god, have been fine for the first summer ever. I use the shampoo bar on them and keep a pot of the cream for spots. Just started using the ear drops a couple of months back and oh, its wonderful not to have to get one in particular steroids for his itchy red ears.

Thanks for this info I am going to pass it to my friend asap x

Its brilliant stuff chris - youd think I had shares in it the times I recommend it :) But honestly, its money back guarantee, so you cant go wrong and its herbal, so it cant hurt your dogs. One lady in particular I have mentioned before had had her westie on steroids since he was only 6 months old. She had a bash at this and she ran across the park to tell me for the first time in his life the dog was not on steroids for his skin.

Its worth a go - I was just so pleased it helped my dogs.
  • Hi

Sorry to hear your dog has the itchies, it's not nice.

My dog had really dry itchy skin so I changed his shampoo and that cured it, perhaps you can consider this as an option?

Sorry I got nothing further to add and I hope you get it sorted out.

One tip I read was if you are going to use apple cider, do so in a plastic/ceramic bowl rather than stainless steel. I cant remember why, its just something I read and I've done so for my dog and his tear stains have gone.

I have heard of using diluted apple cider vinegar to treat sticky eyes in dogs.
I sometimes add garlic in powder form to their food, to help repell fleas.

I'd just like to say I also really recommend Thornit powder.
My Springer had bad ears since he was a pup. Nothing seemed to fully clear it. It was like black tar coming out & he was itching like mad, clearly very uncomfortable.

Thanks to thornit his ears are beautifully clean & he hasn't had any problems for a while. A little powder goes a long way :)

Garlic is only toxic in high doses. Small doses are actually beneficial to your dog. Heating will lessen the benefits so it's best to feed raw. :)

Re the skin problems i cannot recommend highly enough Yumega oil - its advertised in all the dog magazines - i bought some at discover dogs last year as Dolly used to be a nightmare, if she laid in grass with flea dust in or if the cat had been somewhere and bought some dust in, even to the extent i got a fur blanket off someone and that sent her off into a red raw rash - so i tried this yumega and have bene using it since November and her skin is perfect now, no rashes, no itching, no redness, nothing - its miracle stuff.!

I get mine from Amazon. I get the Coconoil. It works a treat on my scratchy dog for his smelly coat. I am going to try those Dermacton products that were mentioned earlier in the thread and also Yumega oil too. I got some Thornit poweder for Scraggy and that seems to be helping but the brown stuff doesnt seem to come out of his ears when I use it, but if I use an oil based ear antiseptic the brown stuff comes out. I am definitely no expert but would imagine that its a good thing the brown stuff comes out? Am I right?
Also although he is much better he is still a bit scratchy. Any other suggestions?
