Thanks all.

I contacted their MD's office, Hugh Harvey and have been speaking to a young lady called Emma. She is very helpful and will attempt to sort out your problems. Since April, I have been 5 weeks without a washing machine (different times). Anyhoo, last week it began to leak water. I checked the pipes, all good. Hubs, being a plumber, had a sneaky look underneath and all of that shaking & demented banging had cracked the drum. Emma promised that if I had anymore problems, she would replace, refund or let me choose another machine.

So I phoned her and she was helpful, but they need to send yet another engineer out. He failed to spot the crack so we told him where it was and all around it the metal was rusting. He then condemned the machine.

Told me I could have a replacement, refund or choose another machine and got me the magic SED no. which is what you need to get a result in the shop. Without this you have nothing, I tell you, nothing.

Now Emma phones me and tells me I can't have a refund. Why? Because I bought a voucher through a coporate scheme and they can only issue a credit note or another voucher. Apparently I don't have a leg to stand on here.

Anyway, I paid another couple of hundred £'s and today I have been delivered of a Bosch Machine. It comes with a 2 year guarantee through 'Bosch' not Comet.

What has really really irked me is that I didn't want to use Comet again as there after sales are c rap. Their engineers are so busy because they sell cut price c rap.

I spent over £25.00 on phone calls before I got the number of the MD's office, which was relatively easy to look up online, but as I have a phone landlines for free, got shafted on these 0844 malarky.

So if you have a problem with Comets aftercare simply phone

01482 592442 and you get through to someone who actually gives a s hit. Hugh's email addy is hugh.harvey@comet.co.uk

I really hope this helps someone else as I have been to hell & back with this shower.

Equally the manager in my local store, when I went to choose new machine, was so embarrassed that he gave me £25.00 off of a new product. I needed a small kitchen appliance so I chose one and got it free. So there are some reasonable staff at Comet.

I don't even think it's the staff. It's the procedure. It's appalling. It's fix fix fix until your year runs out. I will not even bother mentioning to you the time I bought a pc..................

Save yourself a nightmare, go to a reputable company like JL who may charge a bit more, but will come out the next day and sort out the problem. They don't sell c rap so their engineers are not so busy.

    Sorry for rant.
