People in this day and age have to realise that it is a LUXURY to be able to afford to be a stay at home mum. I don't have a problem with that at all but YOU have to be able to fund that luxury yourself not other taxpayers.

I do fund it myself the way I see it is I paid a hell of a lot more in tax working than Ive had in tax credits since having my daughter. Why have kids if your not prepared to raise them and leave someone else to do this for you. If I returned back to work then it wouldnt of been worth me doing after childcare costs I looked into this too
Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.

This attitude makes me so angry. Tax is not a great big pot that you pay into, before taking out your 'share'. It does not work like that.

I have no problem at all with people staying at home to raise their children - multiple children in some cases - but I don't want to have to pay for your lifestyle choice.

I agree its much better to never have worked and paid into the system then take all the handouts you can get ;)

But why should the state pay for what is a choice?

Really? I suppose I could scrape along on £64 a week but I actually prefer not to have to eat beans on toast at every meal.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, having kids isn't always a choice. I know some people who do the education-career-marriage-children thing in that order feel they are morally superior to others but most humans don't actually live life by the book and find that things sometimes just happen, or things don't go the way you planned. It must be nice for everything to go exactly as planned, but I think it is quite unusual.

The "children are a CHOICE" brigade, usually have 2.4 of them themselves, and seem to faint at the notion that the world doesn't revolve around the way they think life should be.
All over the place, from the popular culture to the propaganda system, there is constant pressure to make people feel that they are helpless, that the only role they can have is to ratify decisions and to consume.

What are they then? No-one has forced you to have a child, have they?

Are you seriously suggesting that not to abort a baby is a choice, in the truest sence of the word?

So, if I don't kill my next door neighbour that too is a choice, in that case.

Where have I mentioned abortion? The fact is, someone has chosen to have a child. Or are you seriously suggesting that women are forced to have children?

If you understand what I mean about the context of "choice", then of course women do not always choose to fall pregnant, and thus have a child.

Nor is it even relevant, even those that plan their families according to strict rules of 2.4, may find themselves in a situation of need.
