    This is easy!

    Purchase large deep freeze.
    Locate nearest ASDA.
Go to ASDA every night at 19:30 to 20:00 (times may vary)
Buy everything that will freeze that has been reduced to 10p/33p with Whoops lables.
    Take items home, freeze.
Eat well on the defrosted items through the rest of the months.
Top up freezer with same process every day.
    Works for me every day.

I can see 1 tiny flaw with that plan...you would have to buy a large deep freeze!! Defeats the object of trying to spend less!!:p

What a waste of time if you are doing this every day! Tis okay to be OS, but you need to get a life. The freezer becomes full............and your point is?
Doesn't really help with original question.
    (Sorry for my rant)

I think Paul R was saying you can get good value out of reduced stock at the supermarkets if you are prepared to find out the times the store closest to you reduce at. It would take next to no time to fill up the freezer. Maybe a few nights stocking up. (Well that's how I read it) Probably atm the op can't afford a freezer but to get within her budget long term she should at some time make the splurge and buy one. Be it second hand or new it will save her money.

I would suggest a roast where you can make mulitiple meals out of one piece of meat. If you have any freezer space in your fridge, freeze the excess for other nights. Cottage pie, curries etc all freeze well. HTH
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

OP could always join freecycle and keep her eyes peeled for a freezer.
Soup is nice for lunch for a change.
Curry made from leftovers is super cheap.
A chicken goes a long way and is very versatile.
  • Hello there

I make a big pot of soup every week and take it to lunch in a flask evey day. It's great on a cold day, very cheap and certainly provides a few of my 5 a day. The less I spend on shopping the healthier I seem to eat !

Once you know the rough times of your supermarket "mark down" you can get some great bargains, so if the OP doesnt have a lot of money right now its definitely the way to go.

A few weeks ago at our local Tesco I managed to buy 20 packs of a good make spicy sausages for 15p a pack. (normally £2 a pack).........4 loaves of kingsmill bread for 20p a loaf.....12 fresh pizzas for 10p each and bananas for 20p a bunch (made banana cake) as well as....uuummmm dare I say it four lots of readymade sandwiches at 15p each (had these as a special supper lol)....and four gorgeous chocolate muffins for 15p the pack.

If I'm collecting one of my children from an activity/friends at the time I think they're reducing I just pop in, so its not even a special journey if you can fit it in. Or if you normally go shopping at 4pm and the reduce the items at 9.30...change your shopping time :)

Its definitely well worth it!!! :)

    Good luck !!

I've looked at this time of night in Asda. Most stuff gets reduced by about 1/3, never down to super bargain prices like that!

    Check out farmfoods :D

theres a 40p cabinet in my local one and lots of stuff 2 for a quid. Have a nose here for some bargains, obviously its down to your own personal choices the sort of thing youd eat etc .

Of course yellow labels is a great way of doing things too, we got some finest sasages for 60p the other day, so we will have those tonight with mash, pease, carrots, onion gravy and an own brand angel delight for pud :D ( if you are eating alone, then seperate the packs when you get in so you dont have to have sausages 2 days running!

We do 25 a week for 2 so I expect 10 a week for one isnt too hard....
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

I know part of my low budget was a sack of potatoes, which then of course lasted a lot longer than a week. Potato soup, curry, pies, in a stew... chips! The possibilities are endless;)
