I believe that the figure used will be the October figure so it will be based on a calculation for September (i think)

    I was sent these figures>

BENEFIT BRITISH OLD AGED PENSIONER and ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS / REFUGEES LIVING IN BRITAIN

    Weekly allowance £100 and £250

Weekly Spouse allowance £25 and £225

Additional weekly hardship allowance £0;00 and £100

TOTAL YEARLY BENEFIT £6,000 and £29,900

If I were a refugee, why would I look for work?

After all, the average pensioner has paid taxes and contributed to the growth of this country
For the last 40 to 60 years.

I find it hard to believe this is correct? Please tell me it is not

If the immigrants are illegal then how does the system know they exist in order to give them benefits?

And if they are illegal / asylum seekers they get nothing, no housing, not allowed to work, no benefits.

This was all discussed in detail in Moneybox Live this afternoon: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00ss2cx#synopsis

I listened to it while the rest of the world was watching some football game or other.

Just to save listening all the way through did it discuss the question raised by the OP i'e. what is likely to happen to the age related allowance?

Also heard this morning that it will not be increased next April either

Looks like we will have to wait for under 65s to catch up first

I don't think we pay VAT on water.

    No, you're right, of course.
