Wow check out the spuds! (That sounds rude...)

I hope you are not feeling down any more? Your post of 21st October said you were down.....has your big pay packet and refocussing on targets helped hon?

Shame about the glasses  - I hope you can get cheaper specs online. If you go through QuidCo of course, more money back to you!

Well done on taking on more responsibility at work - all good stuff for your CV as well as making yourself indispensable. :money:

Yes, feeling better thanks. I never stay down for long, I'm usually a 'Que sera sera' type of person. Life throws things at you and you have to learn to roll with the punches, or give up.
I've always looked at my problems as a challenge, rather than a brick wall in my way. You have to laugh at you troubles, or they will just drown you.
It's like the situation with the girl who owes me money, rather than looking at it like 'She owes me £168 and I doubt she will pay it.', I look at it instead like 'At least she's paid me £1120 of what she owed me.'

What really cheered me up was going into work last night, it was really busy and the first Saturday I've done the rotas. Only 2 staff didn't turn up, and no-one likes working on Saturday nights.
One I expected because she didn't turn up on friday so I told her not to bother coming in all week. And the other one is always going AWOL.

I also sent someone home last night too, I have a problem with confrontations and finally felt enough confidence in myself to put my foot down and tell him I didn't appreciate his disrepectful attitude towards his supervisor. He sniggered at me telling him off, he's done it before and it really irks me, after all, I am the one who is supposed to be in charge!

I'll leave the glasses situation for a while,(we are currently going some building renervating in work so all the managers are kinda busy) then go and see the boss personally, when it's all calmed down.

  • Ok firstly I am here! Secondly I just had a thought.....with your credit card you said how it wasn't with Abbey as an Abbey credit card but was with someone else. Is there any way you could transfer it to be an Abbey credit card in the hope that will be a lower % rate?

You seriously want me to go with Abbey? After all your problems!! Besides I think I would be turned down anyway. I think I might try in Jan, and see whats on offer, by then my debt would have dropped, and it would have been a few months since my last application.

FYI: It's an Abbey credit card with MBNA

  • haha on past customer service...then yes Abbey isnt the best option. But for the product I do know they have been advertising their new credit card to have alot of deals with it which might be good for you. But you are right...Jan might be a better time to be accepted for it. Thanks for saying who it was with.

Hi R. That's a really good attitude to have towards your problems...I'll have to try and keep that in mind when I have a bad day. I flit between being very laid back and 'fateful'....to being f-angry and wound up about the silliest things! (Hormones eh? ;))

Sorry that you had a muppet who 'sniggered' at you. How annoying! I think I would have been tempted to ask him what was so hilarious and could he explain it to you? OK a bit 'teacher'-ish but it would have made him look a total t*t.

  • I know this seems lazy, but reading through 11 pages would take forever. But did you manage to get pet ins cheaper? Im with healthy pets, saw on page one it was mentioned, i pay £6.16 for my springer spaniel and thats gold cover. sorry if you've sorted it out already.

I eventually went with Argos pet insurance, £7.15 for my dobermann.

I used to get upset about the tiniest thing, like if I'd planned something and it didn't go exactly how I wanted, I'd be in a bad mood the rest of the day. But I've learnt to be thankful for the things I have, I have a roof over my head, food in my belly, and family and friends who will always be there for me.
My work collegues are going out each weekend, there are younger staff jetting off to Malta and Egypt for holidays, and there's a guy my age who is buying a house! But it will all come to me in time! I think I'm really excited about this christmas, because it will mark the beginning of the last year I will be in debt!
Christmas 2008 will be my first debt free christmas!!:D

  • I am so proud of you. As you said...you really have come far and are now able to deal with stuff you were not :T:T:T.

What a great christmas present for yourself...your last christmas in debt. Seriously nothing can top that except the gift you are going to be giving yourself in 2008, you first debt free christmas!

    Well done!
