Where did you work? Northern Europe by any chance? or Saudi?

    Belgium and then South Africa.

What I meant was that I was made poorer by the Labour Govt over the 13 years they were in power.

Err, why should I care at this point in time?

All this politicking is frankly wasted breath.

Vince came across as pragmatic this morning on A.M show. That's what we need right now, pragmatism, not dogmatic politics.

    Exactly, kabayiri. Well said.

The LibDems should thank their lucky stars that the Tories wooed them (yes, I know it suited the Conservatives, too). I doubt that anyone voted for every bit of any of the parties' manifestos. As it happens, the coalition suits my view of what's required for the Nation currently. They are at least softening the Conservative policy somewhat and are in a position to influence. All to the good of the Country. Did any LibDem voter actually think that the Party would get a majority and be able to govern outright? Surely not.

Do people in the parts of Europe where coalitions are the order of the day go through this vilification of the party they voted for?

And to repeat what kabayiri said, pragmatism is what's required to get us out of these terrible times bequeathed by Labour and their evil manipulators, the machiavellian Peter Mandelson and Alastair Campbell.

The coalition seems to be working quite well so far. It's frustrating many people as it was widely expected to break down before now. On the flipside, there hasn't been one argument that the public know of.

Theres been plenty of people trying to create them, not only from inside the tory and lib dem parties, but more notably from Labour, of which, Harriet Harman goes for the direct personal approach, instead of the political approach. It would have been better for her if she had at least got a reaction. She didn't, so just ends up looking very silly.

Got to give them their dues though, it seems to be working pretty well. The VAT increase will not outweigh the effect of those on the lowest incomes, thats a stupid thing to say. They would have to spend nearly their entire income on VAT attracting goods for it to do so.

I guess what I'm seeing is disgruntled labour (or other party) followers trying to manipulate anything not only the tories now say, but also the lib dems say. I'd expect a big reason for the need to slam them at any given opportunity is because the coalition seems to be doing pretty well.

Not disgruntled at all old chap - we're gaining in the polls you're losing - nothing to be disgruntled about at all;)

some peoples brains do work with some very, very strange logic...

by this statement Labour must have done a tremendous job (which they didn't btw) by looking at the large number of critics that they have on this forum:money:

I think Chucky was exploring the irony of your statement, not necessarily agreeing with it.
