Lib Dems sell out

Well if low interest rates, low infkation and strong growth made you poor then you're going to love the Tories.0

How do you get all the LibDem MPs into a mini?
You put Cameron in the driving seat and watch them all crawl up his a***.
Not that funny. Just sad, but true.0 -

And all it cost was a trillion pounds of government debt.0 -

Before the election I looked very carefully at all the manifestos, and despite coming from a traditional Liberal background (including having a great-uncle or so who was a Liberal cabinet minister), and having voted LibDem previously, I went for the Conservatives this time. Their manifesto seemed better to my mind for the Nation than the others, and the more I saw of David Cameron, the more statesmanlike I felt he would become.
As it happens I now cannot abide the Labour Party. What a dreadful bunch they are. They've lied, taken us to war illegally, sold the gold cheaply, increased the gap between rich and poor (I know, I'm on the poor side) and are still using the same Alastair Campbell/Peter Mandelson-generated rhetoric to sneer and pillory the LibDems and the Coalition.
This is new politics, there may be a few glitches along the way, but to me the coalition is a positive thing, and should be encouraged. Well done to Nick Clegg and his LibDems and David Cameron and his lot for doing this. I believe fervently in the coalition, and nothing will ever persuade me to vote Labour. They disgust me when I see them on Question-Time etc. Horrible, horrible, snide liars.
Just to say that I agree with all your posts – and contrary to what another poster has said, I felt Vince Cable actually came across quite well on Question Time, following the hideous Ed Balls's vicious attacks on him.
I really don't know how labour has the nerve to raise its head above the parapet.
Of course there will be debates and arguments among members of the coalition, and of course they won't necessarily agree with each other and will have to compromise. That's how coalitions work – and this country needs a strong government that will work.0 -

as for the highlighted piece, however bad Labour were - it has nothing at all to do with the Lib Dems, you judge them in what they're doing. if you feel that's how you need to defend the Lib Dems by comparing them to Labour instead of speaking positively about the Lib Dems then you're clutching at straws.
the Lib Dems are now on dangerous ground - many things they had in their manifesto are now being ignored and they're giving the impression they're only there for their own political careers instead of the reasons the people actually voted for them for.0 -

The hideous Ed Balls vicious attacks on Vince Cable are politics - they all do it and if you can't take it you shouldn't be in politics -
And how many people voted Libdem in the election because of their election campaign promises?Dr Cable told BBC1's The Andrew Marr Show that his party's 'VAT bombshell' poster, a major campaigning point of the general election, was not to be taken seriously after polling day.
"We were scoring a point against the Conservatives," he said.
"That was in the election, we've now moved past the election. We're working with the Conservatives. We've reconciled our differences."

So is that what election campaigning is all about? And we as the voting public, are expected to make informed decisions on who gets our vote based on this.
They are all liars, or at best very economical with the truth. They are the equivalent of a salesman, I think most people expect them to lie, but live in hope that they won't. The Libdems for all their talk of "new politics" are no different to the rest.
It's really quite depressing.0 -

Disgraceful and shameful. Vince has gone righ down in my estimations.
What I don't understand was why he might have been high in your estimation to start with.
Despite the BBC's love affair with St Vince, I could never see the attraction - it certainly wasn't consistency!0
