Explain to me why you're telling me that mine should go on care and mobility needs I have? or is it one rule for you & your husband because you've worked all your lives, whereas I haven't?Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I use my 2 son's DLA to make up the shortfall on our rent as otherwise they would have to share a bedroom & would most likely end up killing each other.
If you are entitled to DLA then you can spend it on whatever you want.I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

Isnt there a limit to what you can earn and claim it though?
Also i thought you had to look after that person for so many hours a day?
May have got that wrong but sure someone will correct me0 -

No actually it is you constantly whinging that you don't get enough. I get the impression you would just like to get what you think you need/deserve and have the bills paid in full.
I won't say it again but ALL my husband's care needs are met. So yes we spend the AA £70 on meeting his care needs and we fritter a different £70:rotfl:0 -

After tax, NI and half of pension contributions, it's £100 a week. You have be caring for a minimum of 35 hours a week.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Yes there is a limit. As stated it's £100 after tax etc. My partner earns more than this so can't claim it even though I get mid rate for the care part (he earns too much yet he only made around 8.6K gross last year . You can only earn 5.2k a year net or less to get CA for the person you care for). To get mid rate care you have to have a minimum of 35 hours a week care needs, more if high rate - so I think it's assumed that if a person is claiming CA for the person that they will meeting these needs.stargazer59 wrote: »Isnt there a limit to what you can earn and claim it though?

Wow. Your privilege is showing. You might want to check that.
FYI, it's surprisingly difficult to find anywhere that sells trolleys of that type around here, or I'd have already got one for myself.
You SS OT should provide you with a trolly to support your needs alongside the other household aids that your need, they do have strange ideas mind, you MUST have a perching stool if you want one or not!
A trolly is a easy thing to get from OTand fast but any other more useful aids might take a while but its worth having the assessment ASAP to get yourself on the waiting list.0 -
My care needs are met by partner & family who live local but as both of them work full-time, neither is allowed to claim AA.
Now the Summer holidays are here, my 10yr old daughter is enjoying helping me get dressed as she keeps telling me I need street cred!
I use my DLA to met cost of 2nd mortgage and run my car. I didn't want to use my mobility element; £50 a week, for a new car as thisnis alot of money. Besides the car I have is in pretty good condition - passed it's MOT today without any problems!
We took out 2nd mortgage to build downstair toilet for me and a conservatory - don't get me started on the Conservatory disaster!
My worry would be that if ATOS are doing the medicals; how badly will they be handled given the fiasco that is the ESA medicals.
PS I have Metatastic Breast Cancer (it's in my lungs). So my lungs are unable to absorb the oxygen I need to function normally. Hence my constant coughing. Also the medication I take causes swelling in the joints and volcanic hot flushes - don't get me wrong - I'm happy to be alive but live in daily pain and i'm thankful that the benefits I receive do allow me to live a fairly comfortable live as the money is well managed and my partner works full-time.0 -

You mean CA? AA is nothing to do with full-time work.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked
