Was there anything on tax relief for pension contributions?0

Thanks for the thanks. That was fun although hard work!
One of my posts (on CGT I think) was lost due to the site not taking it up. I tried to be fair although I could only really react to what was being said, not consider things. I certainly didn't have time to read any responses!
It was very interesting to go back and read your comments.
I hope I didn't steal anyone's thunder. The request was there for someone to do this and carpe diem is as good a motto as any.
You deserve it Gen. A credit to this board you are. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
One thing confused, earlier he said that benefits and pensions would be linked to CPI at the time I assumed this meant State pension? what pension was he talking about.
And why should it be guranteed to save money.
Its only a matter of months ago that CPI was higher than RPI.
Presumably when mortgages go up this will increase RPI but not CPI.US housing: it's not a bubble

I must have misheard/misread that one.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

The one seriously dodgy bit is that max LHA 400pw for a four bedroom house, £280 for a single, how will this work in London where I am pretty sure those allowances will not be enough outside of LHA housing.
Having said that I didn't realise that such high allowances were paid until I used this board.
Like I said at the time it's tough if you live in an expensive area.
I have a story about wife beating and stuff that really isn't suitable for this forum. Suffice to say that the council involved broke the ceiling for housing benefit in order to rehouse in a suitable manner. The rule was that they could only reclaim from Government the max HB and paid the rest from local taxes. I sincerely hope that provision remains available to councils as I wouldn't wish on anyone what happened to her. If she'd had to leave the area because it was expensive she would have lost her support network of friends along with everything else.0 -

That is why it will save money, he is already pencilling in rate increases.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. What about those who have taper relief at the moment?
There is no taper relief at the moment, until midnight tonight it's just a flat 18% with no taper reliefChuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

Many of the booze outlets in Calais have closed or are closing.
Tesco, Oddbins and Sainsbury all closing, Majestics wines outlets in north france are 28% down on sales.US housing: it's not a bubble

i never thought it would be - it's their first budget. What an anticlimax. I think they wanted everyone to think it would be an apocalyptic budget so that people would be relieved when it wasn't. Doesn't seem like very much has changed at all. Certainly not as bad as was being predicted.
the last thing that you want to do is make yourselves unpopular!!
as usual it's the usual suspects on this board predicting the future and getting it completely wrong.0
