Free 0844 numbers.

Does anyone know if any mobile company offer free 0844 numbers. i.e included in the free minutes.

I only ask as around 90% of my home calls are to my relatives back home and I normally use BT and via martins suggested low price supplier and get it for 4-6 pence per minute.

I just thought that if I found one of the suppliers, Orange, Voda, O2 etc who included them in their inclusive list I could then invest in a 1000 per month minutes sim or phone, even if it was restricted to weekends and evenings.

Apologies if this question has been asked 100000 times before.

It is not easy being miserly!

You can use inclusive minutes calling 0845 & 0870 on ( most) o2 contracts- but believe 0844 & 0871 numbers are chargeable

AFAIK The other networks charge on new contracts

Is this still correct? o2 used to do this 2 years ago then stopped it.

Six months ago when orange started charging for 0800 calls (Although they still dont charge me for such calls for some reason!) no network calls included 0800 or 0845 / 0870.

o2 t&cs.... these have changed since I last looked (Ideal,my flatmates back soon, will save me a fortune nicking his o2 fone!):

Inclusive minutes apply to calls made in the UK to standard rate UK fixed lines, UK network mobiles (excluding from July 1, 2006, 07744 and 07755 numbers which will be charged at 25p per minute) and voicemail 901. On Online 200, 400 and 500 tariffs, voicemail access and retieval is free and not decremented as part of your inclusive minutes.

Inclusive call minutes can be used to call some non-geographical and special services numbers with the following prefixes: 0800, 0808, 0844, 0845 and 0870. Once the inclusive minute allowance has been used up, calls to these numbers will be charged as calls to standard UK landlines at the prevailing tariff. Some exceptions may apply and calls to some numbers may be free of charge.

O2 have never stopped it on contracts, 0800/0808/0500/0844/0845/0870 but not 0871 are included in most contract inclusive minutes. But they are no longer included in inclusive payg minutes as from mid august 2006.

If the Op cares to say what destination he calls their may be an alternative soluton.
  • I am phoning to a Ukraine landline, so that my dear mother may hear how her little girls (daughter and grand daughter) are doing in the "wild west."

And before anyone comments, it is a girls right to talk for hours on the phone to her mother. Who else would understand her.

Thanks for all the help so far.

You can also consider 07744 numbers which allow access to the Ukraine.
These can be used from Orange,T-Mob,or Virgin inclusive x-net minutes.
