I was 18 when I passed my test and the cheapest for me was Tesco car insurance which worked out at about £97 per month (4 years ago now so not sure whether that is still the case):happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0

Have you tried comparison websites... moneysupermarket etc ??0

Try the price comparison websites, also be sure to try those targeting young drivers like the black box companies - coverbox and the new one who's name escapes me at the moment.0

It can be really difficult to insure a boy who is this age as they are classed as high risk, but the best thing to do is to compare prices on the internet and get the best deal0

Can't find anything for under 5000?
You must be kidding.
Try bell, they were the cheapest for me.War does not determine who is right - only who is left.0 -
What age car is it? Go for something over 10 years old, go for TPFT not comprehensive. Do the PassPlus course. Add a parent to the insurance as an additional driver if you live with them.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

Pass plus doesn't always make a difference, didn't for me, but the experience is always useful.War does not determine who is right - only who is left.0

What is the engine capacity and model? Bigger the engine, more the insurance.
It's always a good idea to have a runner for the first year of driving, to get the first year of ncd. After that - if you stay claim free - its easier to insure a better car.
Pass Plus will make a difference. The company I worked for would deduct 5% of the premium for this. Most people don't think it's worth the cost of the course though.0
