Talking about traditions, we cut into our Xmas cake (HM in September and fed weekly on brandy) on Xmas eve it tastes great and gets us into the celebration mood.
ps Am I the only one looking forward to cold weather, hot filling meals and wearing long skirts, boots and cosy sweaters, and snuggling up in bed (am sick of hot, sweaty nights)0 -
We already have a duck in the freezer (we are not fans of turkey either)
Sainsburys were selling large Gressingham Ducks half price recently, and we found one that had been reduced further so that was a bargain!
I find we can't buy any nuts/ baileys/ choc etc in advance as we end up eating it, lol.Membre Of Teh Misspleing Culb0 -

The reason we have such a large meal for only 3 of us is so we can have leftovers the next day and the veg gets made into bubble & squeak
will have to start writing this out in my xmas note bookCreeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
I buy 1 or 2 extra items for our christmas hamper each week ,I start in June and then by the time christmas arrives I dont have too much to buy.0

One thing not mentioned on anyone else's lists, and thats dead simple to make is homemade banoffee pie. Think there'd be a mutiny if that wasn't on the table at tea time.
Can you post the home made Banoffe Pie Recipe please? I LOVE banoffee pie and haven't had it for ages.0 -
I know there is a lot of food but I can't really cut down cos there is very little left after boxing day. It truly all does get eaten:o TBH I love it - we all join in and it is a very sociable time. It has probably grown as the kids have gotten bigger (no none of them are overweight:rotfl: ) but they do have very healthy appetites and we often end up feeding others who are not in the same position.True wealth lies in contentment - not cash. I'm excited too! It will be baby no 1's first christmas that he's actually aware of whats happening and baby no 2 will be a almost 2 weeks old.
She'd best not be overdue like her brother was, labour on christmas day doesn't sound fun, lol!Membre Of Teh Misspleing Culb0 -

No your not alone, i quite enjoy the winter months and the dark nights when you can shut yourself away in the warm, eat hot stews and dumplings then crumbles and custard. Yummmmm!!!!0 -
Oooh me too, big warm jumpers and fleecy socks, sausage and mash with lashings of onion gravy and treacle sponge with custard.
Though I must admit I've had that a fair bit, even when it was 34 degrees here, lol.
But I'm pregnant so I have an excuse.
It's not quite the same though when it's a warm day.Membre Of Teh Misspleing Culb0
