Why's that pendulum?
The O.P. asked for tips and I gave him one. I will find out who the insurance company was if you want and post back in a couple of days...........or maybe i won't. I think that you are implying that I have lied here and it makes one reluctant to post at all if one gets abuse for trying to help. What would I have to gain by bull sh..ting anyone round here?0 -

I can't see how the insurance company would know? And why they would add a premium because he got pulled over?
I have been pulled over numerous times, mainly as I prefer late night shopping, or if I am designated driver for the night out. Why on earth should that change my premium?0 -
Hello
Try Aviva - (Norwich union) They used to have a fast track scheme for younger drivers. I used that It was a 9 month policy but really helped financially initially until I was able to pay for a full 12 months
Good luck0 -
They knew because the fuzz called them up to check the cover note was not a forgery. They increased the premium as they now deemed him a risk - as he had been pulled. The insurance company said it could take up to a week for the database to get updated. This is as has been told to me by the boy's dad. I have no reason to believe he has lied to me.
You are a cynical lot on here, think I shall keep my mouth shut from now on - it's not worth the abuse. Kind of defeats the object of a forum though! It never used to be like this on here moan moan.0 -
i dont think they were accusing you of lying i think its more to do with bad insurer-ive never heard of that happening
he had a cover note so he was insured its gots nothing to do with anything that he got pulled overWhat goes around-comes around0 -
I refer you to Pendulum's post. Seems pretty clear to me0

Some good advice on the whole everyone so thanks again. It is a minefield and we are only trying to get some cheap cover to help him along.
Go easy with each other, lifes too short to worry0 -
So, by telling the O.P. to ignore my post, saying its "boll" and "ocks", calling me childish and reiterating that "it didn't happen" is not abusive in your world? Why would you presume to know better than the lad's father as to the validity of my statement? I am only trying to help the O.P. by passing along advice based on what I have been told by my pal and the lad himself whom I've known since he was a pup.
Seems to me that you have a very strong opinion of what may or may not have happened, but unless you were the person that my pal spoke to on the phone, then you can't say it didn't happen can you? It's just an opinion and an unqualified one at that.
Now, kindly let it go, perhaps apologise to me if you have that in you for suggesting my friend or I are fibbing and let the O.P. make his own judgement.0 -
... and let the O.P. make his own judgement.
The info passed from insurer -> driver -> father -> you -> us. Its like a game of Chinese whispers. It only takes one person to make a mistake and then you've got an error in the story and the story becomes untrue. I never suggested you were deliberately lying.
Imagine the cop ringing the insurer and during their checks it emerged the driver had undeclared mods or points. Or had made a mistake on the insurance declaration (e.g. claiming a 1.0 engine when he had a 1.1, or choosing a slightly different model). In that case, the insurer probably would say to the cop "Yep, we'll still insure him", but would come after the driver for the extra premium due, so the premium would rise as a result of the stop, but not directly because of the stop. That's the kind of detail that gets lost when a story is passed from person to person. It gets watered down to "I got stopped by the police for a document check and then my insurer demanded more money". See how it happens?
Be careful about peddling hearsay as fact.
"It must be true because my mate told me and he heard it from his son" - sounds really convincing doesn't it! :rotfl:
Feel free to provide proof if you can. I'm always happy to be proved wrong.0 -

How would the insurers find out? That data is not passed to them (neither are section 59 notices or any other ANPR marker). They also do not ask at any stage during the insurance process.
I've been pulled several times in my new car, and despite only having it a month and being a young driver i've yet to have threatening letters arrive :rotfl:
(and before you go there... it was showing an ANPR marker as "Stolen" for several weeks).Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0
