Morning folks
Sorry you're a bit down nmlc - hope it passes as the day moves on.
aaawwww N9eav - no friends around. I'm sure you'll fill up the day productively though! Actually, a nice lazy Monday on your own is good for the spirit i say:p
Walked dogs earlier than usual this morning and the park was lovely - birds singing but a sense of stillness everywhere.
Busy day ahead and a quick easy tea planned tonight. Yesterday I made a pasta bake with 2 chicken breasts from a bag in the freezer, a cheat jar (:p), half a tin tomatoes, a tin of borlotti beans and chopped veg including sliced broccoli stalk. I had marinated the chicken in wine vinegar, garlic and olive oil and then added that as well. Topped with brown breadcrumbs and grated cheese, put in oven and had a glass of wine. It was such a thrown together dish using what we had. DH really liked it - he's getting more adventurous:D
Think stirfry tonight with veggie sausages for me and fish fingers on the side for DH (ha ha - not always adventurous). I'm trying to clear space in the freezer and have frozen rice in there that i want to use.
Ok folks, going to squeeze in another cup of tea before the day really starts.
Have a good one.
(((hugs))) to those MIA, unwell or feeling down.

Morning All!
Cat woke me at 4.30 and I couldn't get back to sleep!
Benn away for the last two weeks in Tobago. Hoped it was going to be great, but it wasn't
When we arrived, after a lovely flight, we were taken to our hotel.......where we found we were the only people there! The food was disgusting, I wouldn't have made a dog eat it. There was no Diving school (reason OH picked it) and loads of stairs with no habdrails, no good for me at all!
We stayed one night and got moved the next day. New hotel was nice, food okay, but we are DEFINATELY going back to St Lucia from now on!:rotfl:
Dad still in hospital and driving everyone mad. Just found out he's in loads of debt, and drinking like a fish. Don't know what to do about the situation. My Mamma would be mortified if she could see what's going on.:o
Grandaughter doing well. 9 weeks old and 9lb. Gorgeous!
Will catch up with everyone soon
Have a great day!
(Can someone delete my other thread? started at the same time as N9eav!)

Morning :hello:
We went elderflower picking yesterday. There's 12 litres of champagne brewing (ready to bottle on friday) and enough flowers drying to make a further 18 litres.
One of the chickens has been eating eggs for about a week. I caught Cassie Chick yesterday, she ate one as soon as Jo had laid it, it was still hot. We've blown a couple of eggs and filled them with mustard (thank you to smileyt on the chicken thread), they've been pecked at. There was a soft egg laid this morning but not eaten, so hopefully it's working.
We've dismantled the old chicken house. We'll probably make a small patio and put the table and chairs on it. We were going to put the pond there, but have decided to leave it for now. Once that's done, we'll fence off the top bit of garden. We need a bit of garden for ourselves, it'll be nice to sit on a chair without having to clean chicken poo off it first

Morning gang, hope this finds everyone well.
Am very pleased to get on my laptop:D Have missed my donks(and here of course!)
Am bit stressed out. Shed loads of stuff to do here. Loads of w*rk related things that I have to do today, the usual domestic things, could do with making some bread, need to do a hot wash and sort tea out.
Am still no nearer to deciding future plans. I have been offered a job that would involve me living away from home and not necessarily getting home every weekend:eek: Have decided that much as I would love to take it(if only for the inside gossip)it is really a non starter. The money isn't great (less than 20K) and obviously there would be living costs. London is not a cheap place to live and whilst I would have a place to stay I feel it could make our (already fragile) financial situation much worse.
Also whilst it is a great opportunity for me it isn't something that would progress as such. I had a chance to do something similar when I graduated but couldn't for various reasons, well with a husband things haven't got any any easier. Mark has been great and would not dream of standing in my way. However, it has been entirely my decision. I am quite ok about it but when things get interesting I will no doubt have a moan!
JackieG I hope your "friend" stops being an idiot.
MeanMarie I want to go to Gaelscoil.
TiredMum hope your cat is doing ok.
Pen-Pin!!, CRANKY, LadyGrim, ((((((hugs))))))
Taplady:hello::hello:
Need to plan a shopping trip. Have rather a lot of bags of Quorn sausages(12 bags:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o0:o all enthusiastically bought when on special offer. No mince or chunks ooops:D
Also have a Pets at Home delivery coming today.
Had a very bizarre dream(even by my standards:D)involving one of the OS weddings(don't know which one-sorry) the rest of us as guests, a road train type of thing and Margaret Thatcher (slightly younger than she is today)in a Leopard skin mini dress..................
Hope everyone has a great day.
Take care,
Ann xxxBlind as you run...aware you were staring at the sun.
And when no hope was left inside on that starry starry night.

Morning all.....................(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.
Another lovely morning, it hardly got dark last night, I lay reading till 1am, when I put the light off it was still light. Monday clean, bedrooms, sewing room and boot room.......
Might get on the sewing machine this afternoon, I have a couple of things I want to finish so I can pack the machine in its table and slide it away so DGS can sleep in there when he comes, I have to have a try out with the bed in there otherwise he is going to have to sleep in the sitting room, which will create problems in the mornings.
Chicken for supper again tonight with salad, enough left for Wednesday supper and then the carcass for stock. I'll put it in the freezer for soup in the winter.
OH was ok yesterday, he is bowling this afternoon. There are times when I get very depressed. The attacks come out of the blue and he is in bed for a couple of hours at a time. I am constantly watching him when we are out in case one comes on, the increase in medication and the support stockings do not seem to have had any effect at all. My friend in the US wants me to go out to them for a break, but I just cannot leave him.....he hates me going away, I have done it twice once for a week and once for two weeks, swore I would never do it again.
Right enough of feeling sorry for myslef, time to cracxk on and get the chores done, then I can sew. Have a good day folks.......Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
A beautiful sunny day here. Not been around for a while. DS2 got out of hospital 2 weeks ago, had a week at home recuperating then went back to school last week. I ended up going on his school trip last Tuesday (looking for mini beasts at Natures World in Middlesbrough). We were really lucky with the weather, especially as the sun roof blew off the coach - rain would have been a disaster! I also went on a half day trip with DS1 around a farm which the kids enjoyed.
Our house purchase went through last week as well so I'm spending this week lining up people to do various jobs. It looks like I've managed to sort out a VAT reduction as the house has been empty for a while.
Yesterday was chaos, I took dS2 to a local eco festival - I was helping to man a stall about patchwork and recycling of textiles. I only did half a day but met loads of people i knew. DH took DS1 on an organised bike ride, I was impressed they managed to ride about 25miles (DS1 was on the tag along) They did have to walk a couple of big hills but the other cyclists were struggling with the hill as well.
Dinner last night was a pork casserole, it was going to be a ham joint but i forgot to take it out of the freezer in time! I think dinner tonight will be chilli con carne. I've got one load of washing on the line and another in the machine. I also want to get our bed linen changed today, but I have a list of jobs to do that is a mile long!
BITSY - I'm jealous that you went to Ragley Hall, I'd love to visit as my GGrandfather worked on the estate as a carpenter - shame we live 4 hours away. One day I will get there!
JackieO - I make macaroons using silicone sheet stuff instead of rice paper the macaroons just lift off and don't stick.
HUGS to all that need them!0 -
Good Morning All.
Hilstep ((HUGS)) for you. What a shame about your holiday. Sad about your dad too.
Lovely day here. I have just finished (in about 30 minutes) a particularly important bit of church related paperwork which has been hanging over ne for months! I'm still not convinced I've completed it all properly, but it's going to be sent off, and if it needs altering, I'm sure someone will return it and explain how to amend it. Why did I let it haunt me for so long???
The plumber is fitting my washing machine out in the garage (fitting the waste disposal pipes etc.) so that will be a start to the kitchen work which begins next Monday. have just realised that most of the new units come ready assembled...where are they going to be stored from Thursday onwards??? Help!
Went to see DS again yesterday, and took DGD to see him. His lovely partner has finally decided she really can't cope with the whole situation any longer, so he's very upset. I really can't blame her though, but obviously wish things had worked out differently. She is determined that they remain friendly and still cares for him, but can see no future for herself unless she ends it now. Oh well, this too shall pass.
I hope you all enjoy today. I'm off to tackle some more overdue stuff while I'm on a roll!
Take care.Resolution:
Think twice before spending anything!0 -
