There are about 10.. buzzing about under the guttering .. they do keep flying round the corner so Polly is going insane on the boys bedroom window trying to catch them through the glass!!

A beekeeper?? You are kidding me?!

PENPEN!!!!!!!!!!... How do you fancy keeping bees??????????

TBH though.. who would know if you DID kill them? Not that I want to because they are cute and fluffy.. wasps woud be dead already.

http://www.britishbee.org.uk/local_associations_about_us.php for if they are honey bees.

If mason bees, we accidently re-housed ours when we had some repointing done :D but they are solitary and it sounds like you have a few and apparently they make excellent garden pets.

Hooray! At last - a list crossed off. Am looking forward to coq au vin tonight: it smells yummy. We've got baby jerseys and peas from the garden; and I've bought a profiterole stack from M&S to celebrate on the way back from school: DD just heard that she got into the county youth orchestra today (though strictly speaking she's 2 years too young to qualify). :j:j:j Audition was ages ago, just after she had her appendix op (not good when you have to play the cello!) so we weren't too hopeful...

How do, y'all. Ah, so another week of FlyChapping; seems to be going pretty well and the thing is, even if I don't manage get every(/any?)thing on the list done, it's concentrating my mind nicely into getting something done. This can't be a bad thing, can it?

Happily I was planning to do a bit of a tidy in the dining-room this evening, and scrub down the cooker-hob before making tea too, so it all kinda fits in nicely - but even if not, I'm finding more getting done in the house of a day. And to be honest, I'm not really noticing that I'm "losing" any spare time over it - which is a good thing.

But there must be something sticking - yesterday I found myself scrubbing out the bath and wash basin; I'd only gone in the bathroom to change the towels.......

Joy of the day to you, boys and girls :)
see it's doable! Give them my joy (waves at all flymates) I have my own;)

I don't believe it *said in best Victor Meldrew voice* Just had an email from school saying kids can be collected early tomorrow (at 2.30 instead of 3pm) because of the England match kicking off at 3pm.

I am livid now football is being put above children's education  it would never happen for any other sport no matter how 'important' the occasion.

    Rant off!
    erm
    *cof*
I thought the match was Wednesday?

and yours is not the only school:o doing this and at this point I am going schtum just-in-case

I can think of FAR better things to do than watch the footy;)

the match is Wednesday - it starts before DD2's last exam has finished.

I was talking to an exam invigilator and one school (don't know which one ) has changed the time of the exam on Wednesday so that people can watch the match!

Personally I think that's going too far!

What time is her exam out of interest and how long is it?

Valli - if I want to make strawberry jam how ripe do I want the strawberries, under, just or over? Do I use equal amount of sugar to jam? Do I need jam sugar (I have half a bag left so thought I use it up)

    Dusty - under/just ripe

'fruit for jam making should be firm, under ripe or only just ripe and fresh'

Stawberries are low in pectin so you need jam sugar OR granulated sugar and lemon juice

your proportions are 1lb stawberries to 1lb sugar you can go SLIGHTLY over with your fruit...
