Another vote for loving the outside tap. Handy for all the above and also cleaning the drains.0

Get the tap.

Another one with front and back taps here. They get used much more often than I'd orignally thought they would. No drawback to them at all and worth the money to get them in.Herman - MP for all!

We love our outside tap and wouldn't want to be without it. As others have said, we use ours mainly for washing the car and watering the plants, but also for washing the conservatory and occasionally power washing the paving stones. Also, washing paint brushes (saves making a mess of the sink indoors), rinsing out cat litter trays after disinfecting them, all kinds of messy jobs we'd rather do outside.0

Would agree with all of the above advantages of an outside tap. Have one at the back of the house which I fitted myself 25 years ago. I made sure that I put a valve inside to isolate the tap in winter in case of freezing. I've never got around to lagging the tap and not had a problem until this winter but it was not the tap that went but the brass two way splitter that allows the hose pipe to permanently connected with the other outlet available to connect to an underground supply that I installed for topping up the pond.
Perhaps a different thread but, whilst on the subject of outside taps, are there regulations that cover such installations these days? I have heard mention of anti-syphon devices.Awaiting a new sig0 -
Definitely go for the tap. It's a straightforward job if there's existing pipework to tap into ( e.g. if it's on the outside wall of a kitchen or toilet or something ), if you're at all DIY-minded it's quite easy to do yourself. But even if you're not confident to do it yourself, I can't see a plumber charging much, it's a very simple job for a pro.0

Thanks guys..so that's a yes to the tap then lol!
Can't think of the price quoted exactly as can't find invoice at the mo..'think' about £40 or thereabouts..maybe less. Should have said we have a town house so there is no water supply at the back..we have to run the hosepipe from the upstairs bathroom and hope it doesn't leak! it has been fine for the back garden/decking/patio etc as we only use the pressure washer occasionally. the outside tap will be literally for the drive and the car as nothing else out he front.
We will get it then..may sound silly but would have been a big + when we bought as was quite annoyed we didn't have one but they are all energy saving houses now so?!
thanks for the replys.0 -
My husband fitted our outside tap with a kit from B&Q. It was really straightforward.0

How much should you pay a plumber to fit an outside tap in #Greater London? Thanks0
