Outside tap..those of you who have them..

Ok we had a quote done by a plumberages ago for our new kitchen sink and tap and an outside tap at he front of the house to be fitted. The quote took ages to come through and i am finally going to ring the plumber this week to say we are happy with the price. Now when we asked him we obviously wanted the outdoor tap but my logic is we get the local farm shop to wash the car! the only reason we needed the tap is for the car so now not sure we actually 'need' it..dh says he would like it.

So for those of you have one is it worth it or not?

Always worth it, for washing the car when the farm shop is shut, washing the drive with a hosepipe,
watering the flowers/garden without having to trail into the house for every bucket full.

If he wants the tap et him have it, it probably will make very little difference to the quote anyway.

(have you had more than one quote by the way)
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

I have an outside tap at the back and a very long hose to wash the car and water the plants at the front.

I would'nt do without my outside taps.
Things like rinsing the cleaner off oven trays, which can be messy in the kitchen sink.
Hosing down muddy stuff, never mind workmen who might be needing water when they're working on your house or just for yourself to clean the paths ect.
We've got a tap back and front they get used all the time.

Like MrsTM, I couldn't be without my outside tap. It's ideal for cleaning out mucky bins etc and it's getting lots of use watering plants at the moment. When we had our conservatory built we got it moved, as I didn't want to lose it.
From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!

May i ask the amount of quote? Perhaps i could run the local franchise for fitting outside garden taps if the price is right?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

another lover of the outside tap here
there was one at our house when we moved in but the underground pipe froze one cold winter
so instead of digging up the garden and finding the leak
our plumber fitting a tap where the toilet pipes are through the back wall.
it was quick and cheap (but of course doesn't reach the front of the house for a car, only good for the garden)

had to have that one fixed after all the snow this winter- £45 to spend an hour replacing the part. but my oh would be lost without it.

I wouldn't be without my two taps (front and rear). Mind you, now I am on a water meter there is no unnecessary use of them. But the water butt gets a bit of a hammering. I can't stand the sight of grotty, leaking connectors on indoor taps. They are never leak proof.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

I use mine all the time.

It is at the front of the house, use it for all sorts of things.

Washing the cars, washing the drive, watering the plants, cleaning the dogs when really muddy, washing all sorts of things dont want to take into the house, having a laugh with and cooling down with in the summer(on that odd occasion when the sun really shines!!!)

Would like one at the back of the house as well.
