Holiday Complaint

Need some advice re our recent holiday. Booked with Flyglobespan for 11 nights in Palma Nova, Majorca. When we arrived at the hotel they were over booked and were told we would have to go to another hotel which was in Magaluf (busy noisy area and certainly not a family area). There is no reps in the hotels and after a few hours we felt we had no option but to go to the other hotel (big mistake!!). The other hotel was not up to the standard of the hotel we booked and it wasn't a family hotel more stag parties and various other complaints re the hotel. Have we got cause to complain to Flyglobespan re not getting the hotel we booked or is it our fault for taking the other hotel (not on the flyglobespan list) do you think we would be entitled to compensation as it spoilt our family holiday. Thanks in advance.

That's the second complaint in as many pages on this board about that hotel [see link]. Another poster [golddustmedia] gives some advice on the assumption that the holiday company was ABTA approved. It might be worth using the other girl's case when complaining to illustrate that the over-booking wsa not an isolated case...
Sorry I can't be of more help but I always book independently rather than using package deals.

In the past when people have asked me about holiday complaints I have directed them to http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/ It is a forum style website dedicated to holidays only and there are lots of people who can advise you on what to do.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Have you approached Globespan re a complaint re your holiday? To be honest, I've been on holiday with them several times and never had any problems. Once had a change of airport/flight times - but they contacted me well in advance, offered me a few options and were really accommodating.
In circumstances such as yours it is best to try to complain whilst in resort - gives the company a chance at least to try to resolve problems whilst you are there. I know that Globespan don't tend to have anyone in resort as such, but did you try to contact one of their emergency contact numbers or did you get anything in writing from the hotel management? Any photos, videos or statements from other holiday makers who had similar problems?
All of these are likely to make a complaint successful.0 -
Do globespan have an email complaints address. They seem abit secret like MI50

Just sent Globespan a message "If they get it" it goes like this.
Dear Sirs ,
On Wednesday 6h June 2007 my Wife and I flew from Glasgow to Tenerife. Our flight GSM0661 was due to take off at 0710. Some two and a half hours later we were still on the ground. Whilst I realise that not all runs to time all of the time, but what really annoyed me was the absolute total lack of communication and lies.
First. Without any verbal announcement we were moved from what was supposed to be gate 33 to 27A. People "oops sorry customers" could have still been there when we eventually took off !
Second. The person at gate 27A`informed us that company policy was that no announcements could be made until one hour after the scheduled departure time!!!!!!!!!!
Third. when we did get a sliver of information we were told that it was due to one of the crew not turning up for work! This same excuse was used for the delay to an earlier Globespan flight! May I suggest a new book of excuses be written.
Fourth. When eventfully we were told we were off we had to be bussed to the plane on a remote part of Glasgow airport. Why, nobody knew. When we arrived at the plane the crew infomed us that no one was late and the Captain would inform us why .He didn't. Glad no disabled on the flight!!!!
Fifth. When the plane took off we were deluged with water from the aircon system. This 737-800 had sprung a leak. Bits of tissue were used to stem the flow. Condensation was blamed!!!!!!! Tissue really looked quite stunning I don't think.
Six. Although the majority of the hostesses were Scottish why in heavens name was a Spanish girl doing the Air Safety Commentary. Two words out of the commentary were detectable. i.e Hello and Thank you"
I was under the impression there are CAA rules regarding this.
Seven. At NO Time during our Two and a Half hour delay were we offered (In accordance to EU regs re travel) refreshments or vouchers. Nor anything complimentary onboard. Even Squeezyjet do it sometimes.
I thought that a certain other airline was the LOW Frills airline. You might say yours is the LOW Thrills airline.
I look forward to a response should you receive my complaint as I see no email addresses on your website. might be a nice idea if you did have.
Yours faithfully0 -

Hello have but I think it's just for feedback but not an official moan link.
Thank you0 -
Definately write to Globespan to complain - you've got nothing to lose. Did you contact their local rep whilst out there? If you did, she may have been able to sort out something instead of having your holiday ruined.0

OK I will give it a whirl. Thanks again appreciated.0
