Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Sun 20th June. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good

Morning. Another day for the card companies to make a small fortune out of selling pieces of thick paper with a stupid ditty inside. Then making you feel bad if you don't buy one to give to your dad who has after all (in most cases) been there for you all your life. At least I don't have to buy flowers as well. But whiskey sales must be up?

Anyway despite my feelings about such things, I still forked out £2 for one that was not overly soppy or lame. I am anticipating getting a few myself.. Rather receive something edible than recyclable

Did a boot sale yesterday and got rid of half a car full of junk, made £50. Daughter made £35 selling old clothes, so no too shabby. Had an evening bonfire burning up rubbish and a BBQ (not in the same place), so close out the days play. Sunny, but not really warm here.

Off to Peranuthnoe today, where sis in law has some land looking out over St Michael's mount near the beach, so another BBQ, ribs and inflatable ribs and perhaps a drop of cider to watch the sun go down....

Well, have a good day what ever you are doing.

    Happy Fathers day peeps!

Im having a 'lazy day' today. Parents are away for the week so dont need to visit (gave dad his card etc yesterday). Washing and ironing are all done :j so i think i'll spend the day cooking! Loooking forward to it!
My list: cottage pie, carrot and coriander soup, more hobnobs and a curry. Just to fill up the freezer.
I posted yesterday about ways to use up the coriander that i've grown (loads!!) but if anyone can think of anything please let me know,no point growing it just to waste it!!

Sunny here again today, my shoulder & arm seem to by recovering, so no painkillers needed yet.
No real plans here, just the usual round of chores & cooking.

    Happy fathers Day everyone!!

Yesterday I had a very well earned treat and went into London to watch Mamma Mia - it was great. But today I have to cope with not being here yesterday. Which means clearing up the damage in the garden that my OH allowed the dogs and children to do yesterday, cleaning up the house (I was only gone for 6 hrs for gawds sake!) and the normal getting ready for Monday and cooking a roast dinner. I finally got it out of OH that the kids played the Wii yesterday for the entire time I was out - GRRRRRRRRRRR, so will be getting them out and about and away from the electronics today I think.

Heres hoping for a MSE week xx
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    Good Morning Everyone!

Happy Fathers' Day to all the fathers :D It's father's day next Saturday chez moi, we are pretending it's just, another day here. Well it's not, as it's DS2's Birthday Party today (his b'day is next Sunday), and we are all off Laser Tagging at eleven, he could barely sleep last night.:j:j

I have been outside for about an hour and a half having a cuppa and catching some rays, it is a scorcher here already.:D I've just stuck some Millies cookies in the oven for said party, and there is a wash in the WM, and the feather duvet is out on the line for its final day of drying.

I have loads to do, so best be off. Have a fabulous day everyone, and be kind to one another. Hope those of you in need, feel good today.:D Have a hug.

    Morning All

Had quite a productive day on the cleaning front including a 'hands and knees' clean of the living room floor... paying for it slightly today!

Need to clean down the kitchen appliances today and maybe get around to clearing out the back hall which has become a bit of a dumping ground.

Brunch will be sausages, scrambled egg and toast and dinner will be cottage pie and veggies. Going to get the mince browned and throw it in the slow cooker to braise.

I am ashamed to say I haven't got DH a card yet  so have to pop to the shop but he's requested a lie in as he was shattered when he finished work yesterday and was asleep by 9:45 which is unheard of! Neighbours decided to party into the early hours so it was after 2am before I got to sleep so need a good dose of caffeine I think!

DW is on and I'm putting a load in the WM next. May do some baking today....may just sit in the sun

Oops meant to ask, please don't give details about Dr Who yet, I was cutting the grass and have Sky+ed to watch later, Sistercas has got me excited now, I had to gag DS1 last night, he was so thrilled, said it was the best episode ever! :D

    Morning everyone.

Happy Father's Day for all the dads out there. Hugs to those who's fathers are no long with us xxx

Busy day baking yesterday. Made brownies, refridgerator cake and roasted a large chicken which is now pulled to pieces and in the freezer.

H has had to go into work for a few hours this morning :(
So worked our anniversary and working a bit of Fathers day. Bl00dy brilliant :undecided

Anyway we are going to have a picnic somewhere (I need to decide where) and as soon as he's back we'll be off.

Won a brand new Baby Annabel in it's box for £35 yesterday on Ebay - they normally cost £45  so I consider that money well spent for DD's birthday next month.
Also looking at a new climbing frame as DS is climbing on everything in sight (and a few things he shouldn't like some trellising at school :o) so think it's time we squeezed on into the garden. No idea where we'll put it, with the swing, slide and the washing line there ain't much room. Edited to add I need to win it yet too :o LOL!

Going to head out and scrape some of the moss and weeds from between my block paving shortly. I find it oddly theraputic :o

Tea tonight will probably be something like chicken from the freezer.

N9eav - no expensive cards here I am afraid. Kids had a piece of coloured paper and given glue and bits to stick on and they were well away. DS then completed his by drawing the moon, rockets, Saturn, Earth and a satellite inside :rotfl: He did also write his name which I was really pleased about!

    esmf - wow 6 hours Wii playing - now that's dedication ;)

jackieg - enjoy laser tagging :D

Hugs to those that need them. Have a good day OS or not.
