I left at around 9.30pm before the chaos erupted. Glad I did now. Sorry to all those who got injured.

To those who were there....were the fireworks any good? How did the "chopping of the log" go?

In view of the fact this bargain is finished now and it seems to be more of a discussion on the events surrounding it, I'm moving it to It's Gone

There is also a thread on the unfortunate events at Ikea here in Discussion Time

Of course it was good publicity - "look, our stores are so popular people will come out at midnight and crush each other just to get in".
Plastered the name of IKEA over every TV channel and people at work were talking about it today.
I bet their PR agency is having a great time today - "oh it's terrible, we never expected the store would be THIS popular, we never anticipated this much demand, we'll have to make sure we find better ways to manage the thousands of customers we get in our stores" etc. etc.
Probably had as much effect as a £5m TV advertising campaign - absolutely EVERYONE in London must now know that a new IKEA has opened in Edmonton, just off the North Circular.
You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.
