just got back from edmonton, after enduring extremely long traffic queues and winding round all the back streets i got the the front door which had a huge crowd outside and only to find out the door had been locked because of a "disturbance". Loads of ambulances and lots of angry people. I decided to leave as a lot of people were coming out empty handed..ummm...0

doors been kicked in, police, fire brigade, 1000's of people in massive surge forwards. store now closed. Though they are still letting people out with sofas. Those that are going for something else i would not bother. watch the news tomorrow for all the excitement. :mad:0

Here is the news....
Looks like they never anticipated the lengths people will go to to get a bargain - obviously not registered as true MoneySavers!
Hope all MS's are safe and well after all that went on - maybe someone even got a bargain."No matter how little money and how few possesions you own, having a dog makes you rich." - Louis Sabin0 -
My other half was given a mcdonalds sandwich by ikea0

I'm awfully glad I decided not to go. I liked the idea of the large dining table for £35, but not so much that I'd be willing to be injured for it! :eek:A penny saved is a penny gained0

Hope evryone who went from here was okay! Just heard the news on the radio about what happened!
They've closed the store for an indefinate time now, so the news said!
Who'd have thought that one IKEA could cause so much trouble, now if only they had a website for ordering.....I Believe in saving money!!!:T
A Bargain is only a bargain if you need it!0 -
I was told whilst waiting in the Q that the sofas were slight seconds this came from someone who worked at another ikea.
We were there from 9pm and all was great in the Q chat with fellow bargain hunters. it all went wrong when the doors opened people who hadn't queued pushed forward from outside the gates we got pushed and shoved and had to go with the crowd luckily we both were fine just a bit shook up wasn't really worth all that for a 45 quid sofa0 -
The store manager, when interviewed on R5, said,
" All Special Offers Withdrawn. "
Store to remain closed.
:rolleyes:Moi....?

Sounds like it was worse than a Rugby scrum down there..... I think IKEA should have thought a bit harder about the thousands of people trying to get down there and the traffic... and according to the news one man got stabbed...** Getting back in the swing of saving again.... **
:T :T :T :T :T
Trying to find the best deals to save as much as we can..........0 -
Well, I doubt that Ikea will do a similar sale again after what has happened. Mind you, they have gained quite a bit of good publicity from it all, so you never know. But to those who went down there...I hope that everyone is okay.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move
Lily contracted Strep B Meningitis Dec 2006  Now seemingly a normal little monster.
