Thanks for all your suggestions, I'll give them all a try.
Today I've been living of toasted bagels and marmite. I do feel better after having one so I'll try having something else after my next one.
Having to leave DH to finish the ice cream in the freezer as it's not pasturisedand drink all the beer we just made.

At one point the only thing that I could face was eggs, usually scrambled on toast.0

I discovered last week I was pregnant too, and I feel the same, I feel hungry, but when I go to eat, can't face it. I know what you mean about cardboard! Oh, well, worth it in the end as they say, hope you feel better soon xhngrymummy wrote: »Am posting under a new name as we've not yet told anyone.
Found out this morning that I'm pregnant (which explains a lot!). For the past week I've been feeling hungry, but not really been able to eat much. It all tastes cardboard-like and to be honest I really don't fancy that much. I've even gone off cheese at the moment. For breakfast this morning I had beans and chips (yummy), I managed pasta last night, and toast with honey this afternoon. Other than that I've been struggling, even with my usual favourites.
If anyone can suggest anything for a hungry, preganant, vegetarian to eat I'd really appreciate it.0 -
I found just forcing down carbs helped. Be it toast, bread, actually just toast or bread. Try and drink as much as you can, aim to have a snack every couple of hours and it does get better, usually when the baby is born.
With DS2 I lived on 3-4 potato wedges a day till I was well over 24 weeks.
The key is not to keep trying things, once you find something, just stick to it till you go off it again. It doesn't matter what you eat, the fact that you are eating is all thats important.
As for workmates... you have a viral thing? Or denial. They will know it, you will know it but nobody will mention it till you announce it.0 -
I was like this too earlier in my pregnancy. I just ate what I fancied (however carp it was), I would have a snack rather than having a proper meal and I started taking pregnancy vits. Eventually my appetitie did return.0

At this time I did eat a lot of pickles like gerkins. I could have a whole jar at once. I tried to eat alot of spinach which is a natural resause of folic acid. I also made some sweet and sour salad to light up my appitite. Try some green-headed strawberries or granny smith apples. They are sour.a half qualified cat

Between weeks 6 & 14, I survived on Nutri-grain bars to get me through the morning. I could manage a sandwich at lunch & some fruit & made sure I had a light tea before about 6.30pm when the 'swirly stomach' set in again! I tried to get a Stem ginger biscuit down as soon as I woke up & on the days I could do it, it did help.
Ritz crackers were recommended by a few people but didnt work for me.
I found my appetite was up & down, I felt different every day. It does pass in the end so if you fancy beans & chips for breakkie, go for it!SOA = Statement of Affairs (to find a SOA Calculator, google 'make sense of cards' & click on calculators tab > Statement of Affairs)0 -
I went off food completely with dd no 2, but drank loads of ice cold milk. Then had a caving for cucumber sandwiches and then cornflakes, and cold toast with loads of butter. She loves all of the above!Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0

congrats.
but don't worry about it, just eat what you want and when. if you don't fancy it then dont' worry . I remember the cardboard taste well. and i kept thinking as long as i can drink a cuppa i'll be ok. well we i went off a cup of tea. i couldn't stand it . the taste in my mouth eewwww. In the end i found fresh fruit to be a saviour. With my first two i loved oranges and satsumas and with my son it was apples. i couldn't handle anything that was in any way stodgy or heavy. I also found when being preg eatin a little and often was much better than just having breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Hope u get ur appetitie back soon .x0 -
Oh and when you do get hungry, eat right then. If you wait you end up feeling really, really sick. So make sure you have something that you can grab quickly.0
