Loads more 'thank yous' coming your way. All this advice is really appreciated, and I don't feel like it's just me anymore.
I will definitely try oranges and satsumas, as I crave those when I get ill, so hopefully I'll be ok.
Today I'm on weak orange squash. Anything else is a great big no no. I even threw up the water I drank this morning. My first day of morning sickness. What fun!!If having different experiences, thoughts and ideas to you, or having an opinion that you don't understand, makes me a troll, then I am proud to be a 100% crying, talking, sleeping, walking, living Troll. :hello:0 -
I have this problem at the minute. With my first pregnacy i ate like a horse, but with this one i'm so sick. I'm crunching ice cubes to get rid of that metal taste out my mouth but the only thing i can stomache, is beef oxo stock cubes made into a drink, dry white toast or bread, ritz or mini cheddars and pickled onions - and i hate onions usually.0

I'm 9 weeks pregnant and the hardest things has been the lack of enjoyment of food and constant nausea. I'm not a snacker, but it does help to eat something every couple of hours or so and then not such huge meals.
Eat what you can, don't worry about the lack of variety, I mainly live on cereal, bread (tons of it), crackers, biscuits and potatoes/pasta for dinner - ie carbs and more carbs.
One of the theories around why we get sick is that it is an old survival instinct that we have inherited the body trying to put you off having food that might be dangerous - ie contaminated meat, fish, rotten vegetables etc. Our bodies don't understand that nowdays these come shrink-wrapped with best before dates.
I'm just hoping that things improve once I hit the 2nd trimester. We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -
Eat whatever you feel like.
With my first I could only eat Hoola Hoops for some reason(I absolutely hated coffee and chocolate which I love) My baby came out 9lb 6 and fighting fit.0 -

I found water was the worst thing to drink, it made me sick all 3 times.
Diluting orange for me too. Don't eat too many oranges and satsumas at first, they may be too acidic for you. Try a little at first and see how you go.
And avoid ginger beer, I thought it would help being ginger, it just burnt like a B**** on the way back up!
But mostly, you may or may not find something that works for you. It does get better and it is worth it when they finally snuggle into your arms.0 -
Something like complain if you can manage it? You make them up as drink and it contains nutrients equivalent to a light meal2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0

I'm afraid it may get worse before it gets better. But it gets better!!
Before I went to bed at night, I put a bottle of sprite and 2 pieces of white bread in a baggie beside the bed. Before I got out of bed I ate/drank it all very very slowly. That worked a treat.
Little and often. If your blood sugar goes low it's like having a horrible flu. Even just bites of crackers and water.
You can do it!! Every day is a little closer to the not-sick-anymore stage!!0 -
awww - I had terrible morning noon and night sickness my first pregnancy. i did find that ginger biscuits helped a bit, also those salty crackers, ritz? eaten dry. a friend swore by ginger ale,but when i tried it, all those bubbles just went downwards unfortunately. I didnt mind but my OH complained!
fruit i kept down as long as it wasnt citrus. havent liked oranges ever since but grapes, melon chunks and strawberries went down a treat!
there are a few old fashioned cures for morning sickness and some work for some people. ginger or peppermint tea are popular. also flat coca cola worked for my daughter.
I was of the generation which was offered thalidomide for morning sickness - Thank the Goddess I refused it!!! even though my midwife was adamant the sickness was going to affect the baby, my GP was of the same mind as me - he was very reluctant to prescribe medication. I know this doesnt happen now - but be very aware of what you eat or drink or take - foodstuffs are generally safe but it pays to be cautious and to put up with the sickness. not much comfort I know - but my second and third pregnancies were much easier as I knew not to get straight out of bed in the morning but to eat crackers first and sip water, then get up very slowly. also not to eat very spicy foods late at night!
one of the older midwives did say to me she liked it when there was a lot of morning(?) sickness - to her the hormones were raging and the pregnancy was a strong one!0 -
I've just hit the point where I'm sick-hungry but the thought of eating anything is turning my stomach too... I wish DH had remembered to pick up cracker breads yesterday, they seem to be the only thing I can think of without wanting to heave...
It doesn't help that I just had to make a packed lunch for me and the baby to take to the farm today too!A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Thanks again.
I know it's called morning sickness, but why does it have to start at 12:30am!
Yesterday I managed a baked potato with nothing on and half a satsuma for tea.
Not made it in to work yet as it's an hour by car or 2 hours by bus and right now I really can't do that much travelling. _pale_ Think I might have to tell my line manager sooner rather than later just to be fair to my department. I can't have a 'viral infection' for too long. DH suggested I say it's an STD
I really hope it does get better. I've only had 2 days of it so far, and it's horrible.
It makes wedding invitation replies interesting though - any dietary requirements - yes, a toasted bagel with a little butter and marmite please!
I'm starting to 'feel' a little bit pregnant now, rather than just unwell. Still not used to it and finding it all rather scary though. If having different experiences, thoughts and ideas to you, or having an opinion that you don't understand, makes me a troll, then I am proud to be a 100% crying, talking, sleeping, walking, living Troll. :hello:0
