How to make a sale by Vodafone in Aldershot

I must congratulate the Manager of Vodafone in Aldershot, on his tactics to increase his turnover for the month and therefore meet his P and L targets hence the good results recently announced by Vodafone.
After being a Vodafone customer for at least 14 years and having nothing but constant problems for the past 10 months with my Nokia N85 and it being returned to Vodafone every 6 - 8 weeks, they have decided that they need to make money from me!!!
How you ask......
Well, quite simply as a customer with yet again another problem with my N85 I took it into Vodafone in Aldershot, to be told "It needs a software upgrade".... Goodness me another one????, it must be its 4th!!!
Anyway, I was then told that they didn't have a courtesy phone to give me in the meantime..
What a phone shop with no phones?????, I asked for the manager, who reiterated that they were indeed a phone shop with no phones to lend out..., my only choice (which was no choice really) was to buy a phone....
Yes I had to buy a phone, to use while my phone was in for repair!!
Congratulations Vodafone Aldershot on your sales technique!!

I'm sure spending £7.95 on a phone wouldnt make much of a difference to their bottom line

ever thought they may have a finite amount of loan handset units and these might all be out with other customers,
Loan handsets are provided as a courtesy they are not part of a contract as your N85 isnt, and do not have to be provided
i would suggest if you cannot be without a phone you either
1. get it insured for a 24hr replacement
2. have a cheap/old phone as a spare
3. find out where your nearest Nokia service centre is and take it there yourself for an on the spot upgrade (there is a nokia store in camberley)0 -

It is insured I pay £6.95 per month for the privilege of being guaranteed a phone!!,
Unfortunately they couldn't give me this guarantee, as they are a phone shop with no phones to lend!
I always give my old phones to charity.0 -

That would have been nice!!
Unfortunately they didn't have any cheap phones in stock either!!!, they must have sold them to people who brought their phones in earlier in the week!
Being a Saturday if they had 2 phones an hour being brought in for repair and each person had to buy a phone, that is a pretty good top line sales increase!!0 -
No offence but you come across as one of those "difficult" customers...0

Gloomy, Past Bright Future - I would feel the same as you, why shouldnt you be treated as a valued customer after 14 years of business with Vodafone?0

? Customer pays insurance INCLUDING for a temp mobile.....
OP - a handset should be sent for repair 3 times THEN replaced.
Contact Consumer Direct, Voda are giving you a LOYAL customer the run around on both counts. If I helped or saved you money - Thank me
If I helped you spend some money - spank me
If I done both - :lipsrseal me:eek:

I didn't know about the handset 3 times scenario, thank you very much for that.
I did contact Vodafone customer service, who have applied a nice credit to my account. They then offered me another phone as long as I paid again!!:rotfl: Or I could extend my contract by 6 months and receive a choice of 6 rubbish phones free.
As I have been a customer for 14 years, I am one of those rare customers still on a 12 month contract, they have been trying to change me for a couple of years now!0
