I can't help much I'm afraid, except to ask - is there no-one who could lend you a couple of loaves of bread until payday? If a friend came to me and said they were skint but could make do with what they'd got if they had bread, I would give them some bread or the money to go and buy some. Similarly with milk.

Good luck. Let us know how you get on. I'm sure someone on here will be able to come up with a meal plan.

Apparently there are websites where you can type in your ingredients and it will give you a recipe for a meal. I don't know if one of those will help.

This may be a crazy idea but could you find enough to do a car boot sale in the morning, if you don't have transport ask a friend with a car to do one with you and split the profits, i know it's really short notice but if you have a charity bag of stuff ready to go to a charity shop or books or clothes that you don't wear but don't want to give away or christmas or birthday gifts you have stuck at the back of a cupboard, or bedding or curtains you no longer use, just an idea, even if you arrange one for next week it would help.

Im in the northwest there is most likely someone i can ask to lend a couple of pound, like my mum but i just hate to do it :( and i guess if the worst came to the worst i could lend £10 out of one of the kids bank accounts but i hate to do that even more.

Ill have a root around theres bound to be a couple of pound somewhere in the house, i haven't really looked yet.

I've found a recipe for american style breakfast pancakes that doens't need milk so i'll try and make a stack of those tommorrow and freeze, those with sausge/bacon or egg could be a nice change for breakfast, likewise if i can find some sort of breakfast muffin recipe i have rasins and other dried fruit.

kids lunches, if you have pasta and a bit of salad just mix together with a bit of mayo or salad cream and they can take pasta salad. Same with rice cook and mix with a knob of butter or olive oil add peas and sweetcorn. Crackers if you have any as a change from bread mine like these with cheese spread.
Meals pasta and tin tomatoes, soupmade with any veg stock cubes and herbs, rice cooked with stock cube with peas and any other veg, shred a little chicken in if you have any in freezer, you only need a tiny bit of chicken. Potatoes and onions layered in a casserole dish and pour stock overand if you have a tin of corned beef cube it and add it 15 min before serving, egg and chips.

Needs must when the devil drives.

You could do it this once, and give yourself some breathing space to do meal planning for the future so it doesn't happen again. You can always put the tenner back on payday. Have you seen Weezl's website? http://www.cheap-family-recipes.org.uk/ It's brilliant!

You could always offer to pay your child back at 10% interest for the loan ie stick another quid in on top, if you feel really guilty about it?

Chances are the whole family will be really impressed with the 'treats' you are giving them for breakfast :D You might even get away with porridge with water once or twice... Can you use the cereal to make any kind of snacks - if you have any chocolate, maybe rice krispie cakes?

Despite what we tend to think, bread and milk AREN'T essential (I rarely use either nowadays), but we tend to get stuck in a rut and panic when we're shaken out of it. Water can be used in place of milk in lots of cooking, and pasta and rice can be used for packed lunches.

Create a meal plan for yourself for the days you have left to get through. You need to ration your carbs to get you through, as you seem to have plenty of protein (don't forget to boil up the chicken carcass and any other bones to make stock either for soup this time or to freeze and use to prevent a next time!).

You do need to make sure you have enough fruit and veg to get through too. You may not manage 5 a day, but get as close as you can. You say you have raisins, so even adding these to porridge will count.

When you get to the end of the month, have a good long think about how you got where you are today. Work out what you need to keep stocks of (pulses are good... carbs and protein). Freeze any glut of fruit and veg that you pick up cheap, so you have it there for emergencies. And make sure you keep an eye on stock levels so you know you always have enough to get you through a week - fruit, veg, carbs and protein.

Hopefully this challenge will help you discover your creativity as a cook!

    Good luck.

hehe i'll eat it, not so sure about the kids and husband, i've got some raisin's/golden syrup maybe they could liven it up? might not be the most nutritious brekky in the world but could work.

Nothing wrong with porridge for breakfast. And you could knock up some griddle scones if you don't feel up to baking bread.
