  • I have Just received a call from "Global Computer Maintenance"...I immediately began to question the Asian sounding gentleman once he asked me to turn on my computer, he responded by telling me to f@*k OFF then hang up...clearly not a gentleman after all...lol
  • I have just arrived home to an answer phone message ( can you believe the cheek?) from this company claiming they are getting coding errors from my computer and my ISP. The phone number they left isn't valid and they withheld their number.
My message is DO NOT be drawn in by these scammers - make sure your computer has an up to date virus checker on it that regularly scans your computer. DO NOT allow any random person that calls you to remote in...... Would you hand over money to a stranger who knocks on your door and asks?

I get calls all the time from these people - usually when I'm cooking dinner, my answer is always that I have a Mac, sometimes they hang up straight away, but it totally confused the guy today, it was about 8 mins of him on the phone trying to explain to me how every computer must have Windows. I sounded all concerned, asked if he worked for Apple (he said yes) and then he asked which operating system I used. To my answer of "OS X" (I've googled this before to find out what Macs use) he asked if that was Windows 7 or Vista. He eventually disappeared to find a supervisor, coming back to say that he was sorry he couldn't help as I didn't use Windows. Yep, think I told you that! Oh well, it passed the time while I was grating some cheese/turning sausages :)

Once before I just left the phone on the side until they hung up, I'd already said I was not interested but he was going into a full blown sales pitch - I put the phone down and had a call back to say I was a rude and stupid lady, that's as may be but I'm not wasting time selling a scam. I have sympathy for people calling to sell real products - I may not agree with the sales tactics but ultimately the callers are only doing their job and at least the products are genuine if (often) overpriced. I have NO sympathy for people selling fake security products/attempting to steal information.

I have been being plagued with these calls all day, showing up as International on my phone display.
The first time I told the guy I worked for Norton, and put the phone down.
The second call came up as Unavailable, was silent and then went dead.
The third time, it was someone else and I told him I had been phoned already and I was not interested in that they had to sell.
The fourth time I answered and disconnected straight away.
The fifth time I embraced my inner five-year-old and just kept repeating over and over again "can you stop ringing me please, can you stop ringing me please" The guy on the other end started pressing his phone buttons as I heard random beeps, and then I hung up.

I have now called O2 and got an anonymous call bar on my line - which will block all anonymous calls which is a bit of a pain, but I will take it off in a month or so once they get fed up of trying again.
