Today I got a call from someone at "the global computer maintenance department" to tell me they had recieved an error message from my computer due to "an unauthorised program such as spyware or spamware".
How they could possibly know this is beyond me. When questioned the lady on the phone could give no answers but wanted to get into my computer,
Beware of this company!!!:D

variant on a number of scam copainies (possibly the same one under different names) claiming this then offerring to "fix" the problem for a fee
1) it's not infected/faulty
2) you are giving your credit card details to a stranger !!Ex forum ambassador

i to had a call from global computer support on monday 3rd jan and this guy did get into my computer i dont know how he did it but he was in control of the mouse and after telling me i needed a clean up etc. he then asked me to pay £99-99 to do so, he asked for my bank details which of course i didnt provide, it was very upsetting and i immediatly contacted my bank.0

If you didn't give him your bank details, then why would you need to contact your bank?
Unfortunately it sounds like you have allowed them to install software to take remote control of your PC and probably install malware or spyware on it, so you will need to remove that and ensure your system is clean. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Martin ought to do a run on this, having read some of the comments about this lot -stay well away- although they did have details about me via my computer so be careful. They are rude (called me a liar) said they would call me every day (harassing) and impertinent!I did get a telephine number out of them 0161 4084448- oh and they said they are known by Microsoft!0 -

http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/01614084448Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Global Computer Maintenance. I had this company on the phone yesterday and the guy told me that they were working on behalf the Microsoft! Said they were receiving copies of error messages from my computer OS Windows 7. As i don't have this sytem I gave him short thrift and tried to report it to MS but they said that they knew of the problem and their legal experts were working on it!0

LOL - After following the various backtrace numbers to 24/7 PC Care I took a little look at their FAQ'sCan you get back into my computer after my session is over?
No. After your remote session is over we cannot log in again. Once you are logged out, the tech support team can no longer see or access your computer.
Hang on..... I thought they used LogMeIn (which you can access as often as you like).Signaller, author, father, carer.0 -
And they tried this with me for the second time today. Last time they tried to guess the operating system I was using. Got it wrong!0

I have had several calls over the past couple of months, Same chat & 'supposed' company working for Microsoft, they do all maintenace and helping people across USA, UK & Australia. Many people have already lots their hardrives to this infection and as a microsoft user they will help me, not to have internet on as by law they cannot do that but to follow their instructions using keyboard and they will guide me through what has to be done bla bla bla! I said I didn't understand PC's enough, will get a friend to ring them, got number quoted to someone else on here 0161 4084448 Alex Brown, I thought quite an English name for someone with such a strong indian voice. Anyway, watch out folks, they are persistent!0
