Someone stole my parcel!

Sorry if this isnt the right place to post this, but I know theres a wealth of knowledge in these areas on this particular board!

I ordered a book off Amazon which apparantly didnt fit in my letterbox. Instead of taking the book back to the PO, the postie wrote on the envelope of another letter "Amazon parcel behind bricks in garden"! Well the parcel isnt there, and it would have been clearly visible from the main road I live on so someones obviously stolen it. What shall I do? Do I just play dumb and tell Amazon it hasnt arrived, or do I tell them what was written on the other envelope? If I tell them exactly whats happened will they refuse to send another one cos it isnt their fault its gone? What a moron!

I would just inform Amazon the item hasn't arrived. It's up to them to deal with RM. My dealings with Amazon for problems they don't quibble and will send you out a replacement.

Once you get your replacement book from amazon I would lodge a compaint with the post office. Maybe it will do no good but they should at least be alerted. Someone did the exact same to my auntie a few years ago with a small parcel from QVC. The postie just left it on the doorstep!!!!! Fully visible and obviously not there when she got home! Putting items in the bin also confuses me. I had this once and luckily my Dad noticed before the binmen came!

I ordered a steam-generator iron £125 from Amazon a few years ago, and got a card through the door to say it had been left in my porch. I don't have a porch, just a sort of open recess in front of the door fully visible from the (fairly busy) street. They just sent me another iron with their apologies, no problem at all. I would just phone them and tell them what happened - it isn't your fault and they won't penalise you.

This winds me up rotten i've got a number of places in my garden where the postie could quite easily hide small parcels but whenever i need them to do this like when i'm desperate to get something quickly they never leave it. They've not left anything for months on end and i always need to go to the sorting office on a sat etc. Just last week though for some bizzare reason they leave one on the bloomin doorstep. Not only was it in full view with no note left but it was my sons ds lite!

Another thing they like to do is bundle all my small parcels together with an elastic band so the van has to bring it later in the afternoon. Rather than the postie putting them in his bag for me in the morning!

    you see heres the issue.
why are you happy for items to be left unsecure anywhere?
staff shouldnt be door stepping anything, its their jobs they risk
If only RM would actually stamp down on this and ensure all items are carded and returned

as for 'bundling up the parcels' well heres a shock
theres a finite amount of space in a red bag,if you fill it with packets then where does the mail go?

our postie takes parcels home with him if we arent in.i appreciate not having to go the sorting office as its a good distance away from me but should he be taking my stuff to his house or leaving it in the car overnight.talking about delivery times, ours goes home for a kip,we never see him before 2pm so i prefer the van man coming.if we have supply postie they are there before 11 its so much better.

2pm, I wish. I have had our collection (4pm) before our delivery! Usually our delivery postie comes at 3.45ish, that's on a good day. He is brilliant, don't get me wrong, but he must be over his hours every day.
