Does the padal trick work on auto's, anyway if you dont know what you are doing take it to a small independent and good luck with the outcome

    do the pedal test.
accellerator to floor , brake pedal pressed.
turn on ignition but dont start.
the engine management light will "flash " you the fault
have a pen and paper ready
it is a 4 digit code
the first digit will flash and then there will be a short pause b4 the second digit and so on
    1 flash = 1 , 3 flashes =3 , etc (10 flashes = 0 )
if there is more than 1 fault it will do them 1 after the other until they are done
add letter P and letter O to the beginning of the code (eg . PO0335) and post on here and I will look up the fault for you

    Hi,

I was hoping for some help as I have 2 fault codes (I think) on my 07 Corsa 6122 and 6166. Any idea what they mean please?

    Thanks!

have you done this with the peddle test or a code reader? have to say I don't recognise those codes.
  • I did the peddle test and the light started flashing. Wish I could post the video I took! The codes make no sense and I can't find them anywhere!

Do you know anyone with a code reader? Where abouts are you?
  • Hi. My wife has a 2008 Opel Corsa Essentia 1.4. The engine light comes on intermittently which causes a loss of power, misfire and sometimes difficulty starting. The error codes I get is PO5251, PO5255, PO5253. Please can someone tell me what these codes mean? Thanks so much.

phone a couple of local garages and ask them how much they charge for a computer check. around here they will charge you about 30 - 35 quid to plug it up and tell you what the computer says. it takes 5 minutes for the computer to read the problems

This. Try and find a local independent vaux specialist if possible. Avoid the dealers as they will rip you off for the diagnostic as you say. Our local independent vaux specialist did a computer diagnostic for free on our old corsa a couple of weeks ago.

I know it's an old thread, but i'm surprised these posts didn't come under fire. Anybody that thinks knowing the fault codes is all that's required as far as diagnostics is concerned is very niave.
