Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Fri 18th June. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good
Morning It's Friday!
One of the rare Fridays that I finish work early and have the long weekend...
So work today, I think I am the only one in the office. Everyone else is either off or taken the day off and going camping or something. So it will be quiet or very busy depending on what I find when I get in.
Got more bees last night, another colleague called me and said there was a swarm in his compost bin. So I got them out and used the last of my equipment to make up a hive. I have nothing left now, so I will have to spend some money I think on equipment.
Still dry here, turned the sprinkler on for a few hours, thankfully I don't have a meter to worry about.
Will need to spend money on food tonight, big shop by the looks of it. Best get it done before the footy..... have a good Friday

Morning all
Late start for me as hubby has the day off, so no trip to the station for me his morning.
It will be busy at work today, I have a few big projects to get through.
No pack ups to make as lunch is provided today & no evening meal to prepare as hubby is eating out.
No plans for the weekend yet apart from housework & cooking.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester.

Morning :hello:
I feel great
Thanks for listening to my moans
Donny-gal, my road is seven-tenths of a mile long - is that long enough for your convoy?
I need to nip to the shops for some fresh food, the freezer and cupboard are full so I won't need to spend much.
How does the garden get so messy in just one day? Need to get out there today to tidy and weed the veg patch. I think the compost was full of weed seeds, they're springing up everywhere this year.
It's mr tru's day off, not sure what he's doing though. He can join me in today's activities, or not - it's up to him. He needs to nip to his dad's to put the battery on charge on the kids' old corsa (he's being hopeful - it's been off the road for 18 months, stored at his dad's - I think the thing needs scrapping). I told him I wasn't going with him (I have issues with his dad) and he didn't seem happy. Can you believe our friends GAVE the car to our kids (it was only worth about £250, but still) and while I was gushing gratefulness, the kid's said a quick 'thanks', had few lessons in it then ignored it :mad:Bulletproof0 -
Morning all,
Looks a bit overcast here today, I hope the sun comes out later, we will not be watching the football, none of us has any real interest in it, having said that I do hope we win.
Off to work today, finish early so not too bad, will pick my dd up from her last day of work exp, and collect my fresh veg while I am there, she really does not want to leave, she loves it there so much.
Dinner tonight will be cheese and mushroom omlette with salad and bread and butter, dd's turn to cook :T
Does anyone have a recipe for a cold broad bean salad ? I have never been too keen on them but OH and my sis love them, I have ordered some, and would love to impress with a cold dish on sunday.
Tru, glad you feel ok today, honestly I think your lot need a good shake up, could you get away for a week somewhere ? xxx
Wash to put on tonight, and general tidy through ready for the weekend.
Have good days all xx0 -

Morning everyone

Tru - glad to see no hangover. What's youre secret or haven't you stopped drinking yet :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
DS up at 6am so I went and lay in his bed for 50 mins. He seemed to like that idea, didn't chat too much or muck about.....he's learning
Got a mum and baby coming to see me about care this morning. I suspect it won't come to anything because I can only offer 3 days a week but you never know.
Bit grey and cloudy here booooooooooo although it doesn't feel very cold, no breeze that I can see so all might not be lost.
Put up my enviromesh yesterday. In the sunshine it looked more transparent but today it sticks out like sore thumb :rotfl: Still if it keeps them pesky butterflies from razing my brassicas to the ground it can only be worth the £30 it cost to buy
My sweet pepper plants are going REALLY slow. They are about 12cm high but I would have thought they'd be further along by now. I grew them from seed and although I don't have a greenhouse they sit on our bedroom windowsil that faces south. Anyone got any ideas??
Tea tonight....hmmmm might do something with sausage.
H got some antibiotics yesterday from the docs although he's not handed the script over yet, she said take them if it doesn't start to improve.
Not much OS, might get the kids doing some baking later, always goes down well
H is working tomorrow for most of the day (on our anniversary too) so will need to occupy the kids for another day whilst trying to catch up housework. Again.
N9eav - I am completely ignorant about bees etc - exactly how do you "collect" a swarm of bees? Sounds terrifying to me but then I am wuss with more than one bee at a time LOL!
Hugs to those that need them. Have a good day OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Morning all
Dry and overcast here. Didn't get that much done yesterday as went to help a friend in need, we started a de-clutter of her kitchen, we didn't get it all done but managed to make a very good start - she was happy with how much we got done and now hopefully won't feel so daunted by getting it finished. Her built in cooker has gone wrong and she needs to get an engineer out but can't at the moment because he won't be able to get to the cooker.
I got very little done at my house, and it does need a good clean too, went for a haircut and the scales, stayed the same so not too bad. Today's jobs are go to town, bank, food shopping, housework, ironing, make filling for sponge, print out photos for DS1 and DS2, lots of shredding, get new black trousers for DS2 for funeral on Tuesday.... the list goes on.... I'm going to be a busy bee today.
Fell asleep on the sofa again last night and woke up at 2.45am - it's becoming a bad habit must try and get to bed at a reasonable time as starting to feel tired now.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Good Morning.
It looks like a slow start for the weather up here today again. I slept on the sofa last night. I went to climb into bed at 1am, and someone had peed on it! I couldn't tell if it was dog or human, but the dog was upstairs yetserday with DS1 so she's the likely culprit, or else one of my boys was sleepwalking. I couldn't bear to get into it once I had stripped it. I am livid, to say the least:mad: The duvet luckily fits in my WM, but she will never get upstars again. DS1 has just come down, he says she wasn't ever out of his sight upstairs, so who knows. I am sure I will laugh about it later.
It's our 12th Wedding Anniversary today, I asked OH what time I should be in for the florist arriving, and he just laughed:rotfl:Oh well, the bottle of perfume I bought myself the other day will be my pressie I suppose:D
OS today, I am off for a food shop this morning, and then meeting my lovelty friend Julie for lunch :j(OK not OS) then afterwards gran is picking the boys up and I am off shopping for some clothes and stuff for the boys, too, and DS2's birthday present. I wll be making tortilla dough and some of Thriftlady's cinnamon buns. I need to do some sausage rolls and cookies or muffins of some sort for DS's birthday party on Sunday, we are going to one of those laser places, and I want to supplement the food so that my wee veggies are satisfied. It's a joint party with his friend, so that is definitely MS!:T
Hope you all have a lovelty day. Tru, make sure you get plenty of time for yourself today, and I will sort that pic out later:D Take care, everyone.

Sorry he's not there with you but I am sure he is in spirit
It my 6th one tomorrow eek! How the hell did that happen LOL! Looked up what 6th one means - Iron or sugar. How helpful is that....H is permamently on a diet so that rules out anything remotely fattening and what the heck am I supposed to get for iron??? I suppose I could give him a spa tone sachet :rotfl::rotfl:I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Happy Anniversary jackieG! Not too good a start though at 1am!
We have friends overnighting (is that a verb???) - no sign of them yet! DH is up to greet them when they come down, but I'm off to my course, where I'll need to blag my way out of the fact that I haven't finished the reading for this week yet!
New freezer and WM arrived yesterday. Have now replaced my scattered freezer goods from various friends' homes and it looks organised!
Trustees meeting tomorrow all day (I'm minutes secretary, so will have loads to do afterwards - just hope I'm awake enough to get it all down. Anyway, the meeting is in Bristol, so will be a very early start and late back. Molliedog is going to stay with her favourite minder later today!
Only OS I've done thus far is to slice up the three loaves I made yesterday and stick 2.5 of them in the freezer. Ah well, little steps...
((HUGS)) to those who need one today. take care of yourselves.Resolution:
Think twice before spending anything!0
