And I have to say I wish they wouldn't have the visitor centre. what is amazing about it is that it is where it is, alone, and that we have minimised our interfering busybodyness about it. Stonehenge is well documented...can a visitor centre really offer anything new?
I'm afraid even if I didn't feel this way that I think its a good idea to at least postpone things like the visitor centre spend.
I drove past it today. They did well to build near the A303.
Heaven knows how they got planning permission in the first place. And can you imagine how the Dragon's Den would have reacted...
We are going to move these stones weighing up to IV tons, CCXL miles to a spot by the A CCCIII and place them in a cunning circle.
Why?
Well, the plan is to leave them for MMMMM years and then charge gullible fools to walk near them.
Don't you think that there might be a credit crunch in MMMMM years and the ConDems might not be so gullible? I'm out.

gordon must have given the go ahead for all these even tho he knew he didn't have the funds to carry them out0

Some of you may know that I do not believe that the americans went to the moon in 1969.
Found this interesting conspiracy theory on Stonehenge (link). It certainly sounds more plausible than English Heritage's story.

The Forgemasters thing is hilarious when you think about it. The one thing we're going to be buying as a nation over then next few years is about 10 nuclear power stations. At the moment we have to buy them from abroad. Forgemasters want to invest to offer leading edge technology - enabling us to not only buy nuclear power from a British company but sell them to abroad.
As they need £80m, have a market capitalisation of £100m and the banks don't want to lend the money, the government stepped in. We loan them the money, they repay it with interest AND we get a world-leading manufacturing facility that gives us future exports.
You can imagine why the Tories would want to cancel it. Investment isn't really their thing is it - especially when they're desperate for the economy to flatline so they can blame the mess on Labour. So I get that. But considering that Ramsay MacClegg is a Sheffield MP his support for the ban is astonishing....0 -

Could be was at the next election
'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
Sorry folks, its Ramsey MacClegg, not Ramsay, spelt it wrong. And like his Labour predecessor from the 30s, Clegg is going to rip his party apart by supporting stuff they can't stomach. Marvellous!0

Many people do not understand that manufacturing is MORE IMPORTANT than any number of desk jobs.
I doubt any of those agreeing with the ConDems have made anything in their sorry little lives.

if having one of these presses was such an amazing plan, then a large company e.g. corus, which could easily afford to finance one, would have one by now.0
