extend ring time before going to answerphone on Virgin?
Options
Hi
I recently got a w810i on Virgin and have noticed that if I don't pick the phone up within about 3 rings, it goes straight to answerphone. Does anyone know how I can make it go for something like 9 rings before going to answerphone? I've looked on the phone itself and can't see any settings that would do this.
thanks

Can't answer your question, but try ringing Virgin Mobile on 01373 855643, and they may be able to help, even by turning it off, the number works as I have just tried it, don't use the 0845 number.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0

Why are you advising not to use an 0845 number and to use a National rate number? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Example using BT. Mon-Fri daytime. (most 0845's will keep you in a queue).
15 minute call:-
0845- 45p
01 using 1899 - 3p, (regardless of length)
w/e or evening
0845 - 15p
01 using 1899 - 3p, (regardless of length)
01 using Primus or certain other telcos- 0p, usually for up to 60/70 minutes.
Also mobiles or payphones can cost up to 40p per minute.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
Alternatively, they have an 'ASK US A QUESTION' facility on their website. BTW if you find out the answer do let us know, I'd quite like to make mine ring for a bit longer as well.Stompa0

Well it is not cheaper using BT's standard Option 1 tariff see here where they still refer to National Rate calls.
Obviously if you use an alternative provider, it may or may not be cheaper but you don't know who their provider is do you!

BT and all telcos have been told not to use the terms "local and national" because they have no relevance these days. they also break ASA and COI guidlines by doing this and actually break a criminal act, (Consumer Protection Act 1987 part III)
My previous post stands, for more info go to the saynoto0870 site and read through the disscussion threads.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
The following is taken from HERE I have done the highlighting.
1. Why did you introduce the new BT Together Options? Back to top The BT Together options were introduced in July 2004 and were introduced as feedback from customers was that they wanted lower, less complicated call charges. So, there are now no differences between Local and National rates and the options are more straightforward, making it easier to find the one that suits you best.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -

But your advice is based on the assumption that the original poster uses an alternative call provider and not everybody does! Like yourself, I do not use BT but lots still do, where it would not cost any more!

**61*[Voicemail Number]*30#
and press 'call'. I am not sure of Virgin's voicemail number but if it was 07766554433 you would enter:
**61*+447766554433*30#
The '30' relates to the number of seconds before the call is diverted to voicemail.
I am not 100% sure if Virgin support this GSM code, but no damage can be done by trying.
Cheers

It would if the 0845 call was being made at evenings and weekends.0
