Warning: Men sharing Lingerie Changing Rooms

Took my daughter to M & S this weekend to be fitted for a bra and we were disconcerted to find the changing rooms being used by men to try on shirts/trousers etc.
Apparently, they should have been using the male changing room at the back of the men's department but there are no labels indicating that this is a lingerie changing room - it just says "Try it on..." above the door.
Raised the issue with regard to the poor signage with the manager and was told that because it was a specialist changing room, they weren't allowed to discriminate against men who wished to try on lingerie and make it all female. No mention of my daughter's rights/child protection!
Given that the cubicles are only protected by a curtain and that, by the very nature of the area for fitting bras, the assistant is going in and out, we felt rather exposed.
There was not so much as a small sign to warn that the room may be used by men too.
What has this world come to - another example of PC gone mad.
The email from M & S from my on-line complaint says that my comments will be passed on to the store. Well, I've already spoken to them so know that they can't/won't do anything as they say their hands are tied.

How are their 'hands tied' - the assistant should be telling the men to use the male changing room, regardless of what clothes they wish to try on."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

From your post I am thinking you want men discriminated against, but not women? The rooms have no signage so men can go in, but you want it to just be for you and your daughter/other women?Male.

if it was for women only it would say women only but we can't discriminate against transsexuals or transvestites so it has to be fair plus not every man wants to peep at your daughter or you some just want to try on there clothes in peace
unfortunatly it seems ( through personal experience when out with my son alone) that some women think all men are gonna molest a child etc
which i think the media is to blame for
i got turned away from three baby changing areas on saturday(needed to change my son and the reason used was well your'e a man (seems some peoples powers of observation are good)Replies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0 -
If you are getting changed and really feel that strongly about nobody seeing you, then make sure that you stay well behind the curtain?
IMO it is probably not good to make a big deal out of it to your daughter either - young girls are body concious enough without an extra worry for her!0 -
I think you are worrying for no reason. There is an argument that the cubicles may need thicker curtains but its not like you have to share a cubicle with men. In the UK we are far to prudish. If you look at countries that are more liberal they have far fewer perverts. What if your partner went with your daughter to buy clothes? As a male who had to use female toilets to change my son I object to all these gender stereo types. Most countries in europe have mixed changing rooms and toilets. Knobody bothers and nobody cares.0

I do think it is a bit silly when shops do this - for goodness sake if someone was a !!!!phile they are hardly going to go into a baby change or M&S changing room for their sneaky peak, when they could stay at home and be a perve on the internet...0 -
I went with my partner a few years back to a spa in Germany, everyone was naked (no choice). As a brit I stared for about 10 minutes then relaxed and did not really notice anything. Interestingly nobody seemed hung up on their or anyone elses body. There was people of all ages and shapes.0

OP has a point, we're all possible rapists. Castration at birth is the only option.I'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!0
