    ^^ As above....

I think id be claiming that they must have knocked me off my bike and driven off.... There's no proof either way.

quick update...have checked his bike and few scratches that were already there..nothing else...no dents, bent bars etc.

Have been contacted by the car owner again who asked what action he was going to take and claimed the officer in charge of the case had contacted her again. I took advice from here and asked for copies of police crime ref numbers and any correspondance, copy of any witness statements, evidence of damage and copies of more than one estimate. I've had no contact from the police at all at this point

She said, ok if we wanted to go down that route she'd pass mine and my son's details to him and was sure he'd be in contact.

Confusing to say the least cos if he already had a case he was pursuing he would presumably have already asked for that, and all she has is my mobile number and small part of the address. She has never even asked for my son's name/age etc.

That was Saturday and as yet have had no such contact

This sounds so dodgy to me that, even if you do receive a call from a "Police Officer", I'd advise you to get his name & number plus which Station - and then say that you'll call him back. Check out the phone number on Google or with your local Police, call and ask for him. Just in case they get a family friend to masquerade as the Police.

good point and thanks for the idea...am fairly careful and not going to hand money or personal details to anyone just cos they say so. Live not far from local station so fairly easy to check..

my instinct throughout has been to question...as was said earlier, if police and ambulance had been involved I can't see them letting him just cycle home or not be in touch at all.

In addition, not mentioned earlier, first contact was with a friend of the car owner who said that the police and ambulance had been called but no crime reference number given!! alarm bells rang at that point.

I've not been given, and to be honest not asked at this point, details of car, address of owner etc.
