So, no need to park outside the pub anymore. Problem solved. Don't quite know what you are getting your knackers in a twist over?

where are my knackers twisted? i posted this as a discussion topic. i don't advocate drink driving but i really don't think the 50mg to 80mg drivers are the real problem.

    I've got to agree.

Another point, there aren't enough Police to enforce the present driving laws (except speeding) which is why the standard of driving is on a downward spiral, as long as you're not involved in an accident there's little chance of being caught & being caught after an accident is a little late!
The drivers who deliberately break the current limit time after time will continue to break a lower limit, safe in the knowledge that they are unlikely to be caught.. it's a chance they are willing to take!

It's a PR exercise & will achieve nothing to stop the real drink drivers, who don't give a toss, but will risk suddenly criminalising (& alienating) the responsible guy who might stop off for a pint, & only a pint, after work.

I think 50g t 80mg are a problem. As there be much more of them on road than the higher alcohol levels they are not as drunk and think there driving is not affected when it is. Anyway did you pick the 50mg to 80mg figure from it meaningless without stating what method of testing you citing.

While sometimes they pull people though other violations or as goldpinner was stateing leaveing a pub grounds, but most drivers get caught though there bad driving. So there driving is being affected.

I have a good idea where you pulled that figure from

Surely this entire debate boils down to one thing: Whether or not there is scientific evidence that 50mg significantly impairs you compared to 0mg?

Assuming the pint brings you to 50mg: If there is evidence that 50mg significantly impairs you then this theoretical guy is clearly not being responsible! There's no way to argue he is!
If there's no evidence then that's fair enough.
If the pint doesn't bring you to 50mg then he's not being criminalised.

So come on guys, let's see some evidence.
