LOL way to go and go against your husbands wishes who does not want to get involved with shopping the mother of his child.

Whilst I disagree with benefit fraud going against your husbands wishes is right up their in the morality steaks IMO.

I have had a look at the site for benefit fraud and i don have that amount of details car reg etc. But as far as going against my husband wishes, yes i would. Benefit fraud is as bad as dipping your hand in someones bag for their purse. Its stealing, plain and simple. But think i will give it a few days and think properly about it, rather than heat of the moment.

You don't need all the details, just as much as you have.

They then decide if they have enough to go on to investigate. They only really need a name, an address, and somebody to highlight the fraud that is suspected.

Wow I bet he will be pleased to find out his wife is going behind his back and lying to him, how charming what a stable marriage you must have.

So the bleat "I won't do it as it will affect the child, I am not a wicked step mum" was a ruse, you were just burtsing to drop the ex in it regardless of what happens to the child to suit your own agenda clearly.

You think reporting a person for multiple benefit fraud is as morally wrong as going against a husbands wishes?

Perhaps the husband is morally wrong for not doing something about it himself?

she runs her own company (cash in hand).

Not declaring any income. Not paying any tax. Receiving means tested benefits due to no income.

    While claiming sickness benefit.

Claiming benefits when she is clearly fit and able to work.

She also has a council property which she sublets at a profit while she stays with her boyfriend

Depriving somebody else of a council house that they need. No doubt receiving housing benefits for the property too.

and my stepdaughter stays with her gran.

Receiving benefits for a child she does not look after, and also maintenance.

Personally, I would not question the OPs morality at all in these circumstances.

Whoo what have i started!! I was just wondering is there was a bit in the ctc renewal form to put that we were paying maintenance for my stepdaughter. As for what i said about her mother milking the system, she runs her own company (cash in hand). While claiming sickness benefit. She also has a council property which she sublets at a profit while she stays with her boyfriend and my stepdaughter stays with her gran.Thats what i meant by milking the system.Sorry i never put that in the first post.[/QUOTE]

I'm a little confused - if your stepdaughter lives with her gran why are you paying maintenance to her mother ? Surely the money should be given directly to the person looking after the child.

IMO that is bit OTT, and uncalled for. The site is anonymous, so the husband may not need to know who reported the ex, and for all anybody knows there could already be other reports pending.

So the bleat "I won't do it as it will affect the child, I am not a wicked step mum" was a ruse, you were just burtsing to drop the ex in it regardless of what happens to the child to suit your own agenda clearly.

I don't see any of this from the OP. They only came to ask advice if they could count maintenance payments as an expense for TC purposes. Everybody else has taken it further.

Maybe you should have a look a bit closer to home before attacking the OP.

You think it is ok not to report a person who is committing at least 5 separate counts of fraud.

The OP has never expressed the desire to drop the ex in it.

Also, your point about what happens to the child, the OP said the child was looked after by her gran.

Maybe the grans situation will be reassessed and she may be given support to look after her granddaughter?

The child would ultimately be better off and the ex would not be fraudulently claiming benefits.
