I asked customer services at Carphone Warehouse about the w950i today, as their website states it will be available in 2007 but their latest brochure mentions October 2006. Here's their reply...

"I am delighted to inform you that the current update we have on the Sony Ericsson W950i is scheduled for the end of October 2006.
If you enquire after October we may have more details as to which network this handset will be assigned to."

According to O2's online shop, the W950i will become available in October. No mention of the W850i anywhere. Hopefully that's coming soon as well, since my contract is running out in two months' time :)

o2 online 50 is only 50 minutes/200 texts per month.

Plus you could have got £35 cashback if you went through quidco.

    From the Carphone Warehouse website

FREE Sony Ericsson W850i on Orange Dolphin 35 (£35/month)
    25 FREE prints with Photobox
    FREE delivery

    18 month option
12 months half price line rental
    500 inclusive anytime x-net minutes
    500 inclusive text messages
    Magic Number
    So £23.33/mnth average.

    12 month option
6 months half price line rental
    250 inclusive anytime x-net minutes
    250 inclusive text messages
    So £26.25/mnth average.

Chequeback based on returning 4th/8th/12th bill.

I think that it is the best value deal I've seen so far for the Sony Ericsson W850i.
