Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Wed 16th June. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good

Morning.

Sorry missed yesterday. Had a bit of a family issue that could not rest with. Semi-sorted now, but feeling better. It's amazing how teen kids can screw your feelings up somewhat.... I shall say no more.

Work today. OH has supply work, so that is OK. She has 3 days next week, so ideal really, considering there is not much of it about. We have a meeting/training this afternoon which will inevitably be followed by beer.

Sunny and warm here, getting hotter as the week goes on. Garden good and the bee swarm I captured seems to be doing OK. Got to get more gear....

Well, just starting things off..... Cheers

Hope it's ok for me to wander back!
I do NEED mse. Have gone right off track.
Money tight & house not looking so good.

    Today:
    Empty DW
    Washing
    Ironing
    hoover bedroom/living room
    give the bathroom a swish
    clean my dining table
    clean kitchen,
Do a food inventory & menu plan.

I need to get baking again as well.

And need to go through my money.

Not doing the school runs as baby still has lots of his chicken pox. He's not contagious anymore but you know how hysterical people can be!

You don't have to, I know exactly what you mean :D Gits.

Ooooooooooh I ache :D I went shopping yesterday morning, then spent the afternoon digging, weeding and replanting the veg patch. Tea breaks were spent on here :D I have to weed and tidy the greenhouses today.

I want to make pizza bases and quiches today. I really need to get back into regular batch cooking.

The younger girls are laying 2 or 3 eggs a day, not sure if it's the same 3 girls or if they're taking it in turns :D We have the occasional shell-less egg, how does it not pop when it's laid?

I had a good moan to an online friend yesterday, feel a bit better now. Thanks - you know who you areflowers.gif

N9eve, that's what teenagers are for, to make your life harder, must be difficult with your job as you see all the consequences of silly teenage behaviour.
Off to work soon, hubby's been fed & dropped at the station with his packup, I made some mini quiches for us. Tonights dinner is installment 3 of the rubber chicken, mushroom & chicken pasta bake, tomorrow will be installment 4, chow mein, all from a £3.33 chicken.
I'm dropping of a bag of ladies oversized shirts to my DD, she can wear them as maternity tops, it should save her some money.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,

Hester I take it congratulations are in order :T:T

Nice bright day here, I am off to work today, so quick tidy round before I go, washing baskets are empty (not for long I am sure :p)

Carbonara for tea, with the scraps of a gamon joint i cooked a while back, they have been frozen, I also have 1/2 tub creme fraiche in the freezer, so a cheap meal.

Little dog has the vet tonight, just a routine thing, so a later dinner for us.

Mrs Mortonharket, nice to see you posting again :T

NPM, Is he home ?? :D

OK better get on, have good days all xx

    Hello again MrsMH

Middle of the week already :j have been up a while and done the business banking. Gonna make the packups, get the kids off to school and do some housework before heading out to get a lorry picked up.

DS is having trouble getting out of bed at the moment, he is blaming his new mattress topper as its too comfortable but I am thinking earlier nights :rotfl:

Weather not too nice at the moment, but looks like will brighten later so washing will be on the line again. Need to put some soda crystals down the sinks today as can't remember the last time I did that.

Tea tonight will probably be omelettes, nice and easy as DS has boxing again.

Best get going, have a great day.x

Dry, bright and windy here. Had a quiet night here last night after being very productive yesterday, took DS2 to Drs he has pityrosis rosea, basically he's body's reaction to a viral infection that he has had, rash will take up to 8 weeks to clear!! But not contagious so he's going back to school today.

Whilst I looked after him yesterday, I changed all the beds, washed and dried bed linen, washed 2 loads, dried those and ironed. Also made 2 doz biscuits, a victoria sponge and a bakewell tart. Then did a nice roast chicken, mash, cauli & broccolli cheese, carrots, peas, yorkshires and gravy. Leftover chicken will be used to make our pasta dish stretch tonight. Have hung washing out and will put another load in before I go to work then there will be nothing in the laundry basket ....not for long though!!

Just have to work today until lunch then will be on day's off, yippee and we're not going away this weekend so will not have to spend Friday running round getting ready...

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    A fabulous day here :)

Work today, a meeting with the big boss about how our direct boss leaving shouldn't worry us etc. Then the work kids have basic skills assessments, and then after lunch hopefully we will be taking them out to do activities in the sunshine :D. It's a bit annoying at this week as we normally use our log cabin in the country park but there is a big festival being held there this week so we can't have access to it, so it means traipsing all of our equipment back n forth to the nearby park.

I also need to take a peek at my boss's diary so I can pin her down to talk about my teaching course. Just waiting on an email from the college to confirm the term dates.

OS wise, dishes need washing, laundry needs to be put away. I'm going to make cheese and potato pie for tea, and wil have enough for tomorrow's tea too :D

    Have a great day all

We got some feedback from the community leader last night that the politician had relayed the message that "as there is no evidence that the boys have been involved with drugs they will be looking for a 'non-violent' solution' - if the problem isn't there in the first place why does there need to be a solution?

    Ill be back :D

Lovely sunny day here. Boys fed and watered, BM on, DW emptied, liver cake recipe (for dogs) sorted, cakes made yesterday and shopping all in the freezer. Packed lunches made, just have to take the grass to the skip and then get the first load of washing on and out whilst it is such gorgeous weather. Need to clean the extractor fans in the bathrooms today as they're making a heck of a noise. Can't believe we're half way through June already. This year is flying past. Have to start on some presents for C soon - I like to spread the cost as much as possible.

    Oh well, better get on.
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.
